Yeah. I don’t know about English law but i guess soon they will make rework of gambling laws in France it seems.
Most of the gaming loopholes use the fact that some law articles are decades old and talk about “physical apparels” “in any physical space” etc etc. If they just rewrite those laws to make them apply to any space, virtual or not, the full ban hammer will swing.
EDIT : for instance “L’importation ou la fabrication de tout appareil dont le fonctionnement repose sur le hasard” ( the importation or fabrication of any apparel whose function relies on hazard)
This is just a ploy to make money off of existing content, ships, modules, etc. They can’t make us buy this stuff with real money so they wanna make us gamble for it. Bad idea from CCP. :\
Hilarious all these sorry internet lawyers saying this is going to violate any gambling laws. Betting FAKE money on FAKE items that you can not convert back into IRL cash is not gambling. The core is not part of the supposed gamble either it is merely a “tax” or fee to create the raffle.
Then this really is a dark day for CCP - Direct gambling which was banned by CCP, now
sponsored by CCP.
No the person hosting the raffle is directly or indirectly paying CCP for the privilege of gambling in game.
The “raffles” rely on RNG and after trying it on the test server I seriously hope CCP reconsider this and don’t release it in December or any other time.
If they really want to put it into the game at least remove any aspect of real money use so the only “gamble” is with in game credits that can be earned by playing the game.
I wonder when I will get a - “Blocked Content” message to let me know, due to laws in my country I can’t participate - online gambling regulations could see CCP games blocked in my country and many others to follow if they continue down this path.
Yeah fair enough. Bourbons take… you know… the erm… biscuit. Damn that was lame even for this time in the morning. Kind of laughing but also kind of ashamed of myself.
