Comparing vices that cause real physical damage to vices that cause no damage, very sad and insulting to many people.
Shouldn’t be hard for you to read the rest of the blog yourself. Or maybe take 2 minutes to try it out on the test server in case you can’t read.
Let them win, so long as they drain billions out of the economy it helps us. As for Omega through plex, that ship has sailed long ago, you now can fly as alpha, do market trading or other activities for omega such as incursions, or pay the yearly subscription. But affordability is extinct, and has been for years.
So basically, this news is saying : “We couldn’t get money out of lotteries, so we are making our own.
Fordidding them upon ‘ethic’ was a joke.”
Ok.
At least we get our SOMER blink back, profits just go to ccp now.
Same situation probably in Finland. Inside the borders of Finland, raffles where money or items with monetary value(*) change hands can only be arranged by non-profit organizations, or in limited, one-time event capacity in marketing, and some special cases that sure as hell don’t apply here. Even if this is legal for CCP (and that’s an if because some other EU laws governing things like making sure your gamblers are not minors), it might be illegal for individual players in Finland to set up raffles using this system.
(*) Before anyone argues this point: even disregarding the money changing hands setting up the raffle, you win an item, which you can turn into isk, which you can use to buy plex, which you can buy Omega Time with, which you’d otherwise use real money for. Hence items in EVE seem to have at least limited monetary value. At least it would be close enough to go to court for a ruling, is my guess.
I have to say, thanks to the crying and drama that I have seen on this thread, I don’t think CCP could have done a better release. The tears of bittervets are glorious, just glorious.
Sad that this is some kind of gambling feature.
From the surface of it, it looked like the mail system from WoW where you can send anything instantly.
I’ve done both, neither changes the fact this is a monetised addition to the game that encourages gambling.
Which also happens to be illegal in many countries and some states in other countries.
Aside from that - I don’t see what point you are trying to get across
First off, the “monetized” part of it is not part of the “gambling” it is only a fee to create the raffle. The gambling is of fake money for fake items that can not be converted to real money. If you think it is illegal in your oppressive country then you can feel free to not use it. For the rest of us, we will enjoy the new feature.
Question, if I post an in-game item up for raffle via this system and the item has a real world value exceeding $1000, my state’s laws mandate that I must publish the name of the winner in a local newspaper.
Will CCP legal provide that information if required?
No item in the game has a real world value, so you wouldn’t be able to make such a raffle in the first place.
This is seriously ■■■■■■ up… First of all we don’t need one more currency, plex is enough! And we definitely don’t need a casino. God I already hate Jita for the scammers, now CCP wants to roll out a scamm platform?
CCP -> DO NOT DO THIS!
You seem to have trouble with reading comprehension.
Where does it say that “If there is ANY component of real money use, it is covered under the legislation.”
No item in the game has a “real world value” because you cannot exchange in-game items for real world cash.
holy ■■■■ this thread turned into a dumpster fire quick. you see this, CCP? this is your “amazing community” in all it’s glory.
and to toss more fuel on the fire… there’s one aspect i haven’t seen anyone mention at all yet… WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN??? i mean yeah we all know the vast majority of EVE players are adults with no life… but this is a video game… video games are intended for children, and last i checked, its not legal for children to gamble anywhere period.
Now as stated above, i know the vast majority of eve players are adults, but there are still a lot of children playing the game as well… if a gambling system is implemented, how exactly does CCP intend on making sure the children in question aren’t participating?
YES BUT I FELT VIOLATED FIRST
ALSO WTF IS WRONG WITH YOUR EAR, IT IS VILE
is it bad i now want a bacon sammich?
Still no response from CCP at all.
Come on @CCP_Dopamine - I know you are the one to be thrown under the bus for this, but get Hilmar an account on these forums and get him to explain why we have this system over other things.
lol, nice name, obviously a new alt character, possibly a Dev trying to quell the sh*tstorm rising from this thread topic.
So that seems fair to you, 7 out of 8 chances to win and you still lost?
Wouldn’t surprise me if that single node was bought out by the AI program itself.
Anyway, guess it’s true, the house always wins.
