Introducing the HyperNet Relay

I have not bothered to post anything on the forums for almost a decade, but for this I must say I am am severely disappointed. Not only are you undermining EVE’s real economy, but you are doing so in a shameful cash grab while twisting words to sound like its part of the spirit of the game.

Undermining you own game, disrespecting the players and spewing forth meaningless PR speak while doing it. All in the name of short term money gains. You should take a long look at yourself.

At this point I really hope the EU will regulate this bs into the ground.

cannot and not allowed at 2 different things. in game items are sold for real cash all the time.

funny isn’t it, when a huge loss happens in game, the news always reports the loss with a real life cash value against it

And guess who does not care…

Hint : It’s all the other ones

You know what is really nice too?

This goes in any direction…

Calling another opinion troll just because it’s not yours is childish as f.

All i can see in this posts are overdramatic reactions of overdramatic people that have simply NO clue what will come or will happen…

All we have right now is an announcement of things to come nothing more but the freak-out level of some is very amusing…

Calm down and get adult…

That’s not the actual “cash value” though. That’s a rough estimate given PLEX conversion rates.

If a Titan dies and someone claims it’s “worth” $80, that doesn’t actually mean that the Titan has a real world cash value of $80.

Also, you can’t hold CCP liable for someone breaking the rules and committing RMT. What crazy world do you live in where companies are directly liable for a gambling law violation because their players “can” RMT?

A stunt from an asian company destined to attract customers from the asian market, no Hello Kitty skins people, get ready for Macau online. Can we have a new type of citadels? like Casino and brothels so i can make a good profit from my extensive stock of prostitutes?

i never even mentioned RMT. the crazy world i live in is called the EU and yes, it is indeed crazy :smirk:

i get why they do it, not everyone does, but most, most will just hear is this ship in EVE that just died is worth $5000 in real life cash.

CCP like all those other companies bypass gambling regulations with the sorry excuse that you can’t cash out. As always CCP is a bit late to the party though, and the other companies already abused the ■■■■ out of this “loop hole” that even the slow politics now have become aware of it and are moving in to close it.

Think you got that one backwards, Brisc. They didn’t schedule a keynote because they weren’t going to offer anything substantive. Instead, Hilmar was just going to claim to have invented the raffle.

Yeah, they would have been nuts to go openly accusing someone of contract violations before actually investigating the matter, but they did that, too. Make no assumptions, Brisc. Should they have consulted legal first? Of course. Did they? I hope so, but I have no fekkin’ clue, and really, neither do you.

Lol. Like EVE’s currently-available PVP isn’t just as boring. Freakin’ small-scale yawnfests.

Absolute wrong direction in which this game goes.

I’m against every kind of real money trading in games. A monthly subscription is absolute fine. skins are ok, but everything else shouldn’t be part of a video game.

lol, I was thinking the same thing.

Also all of their DLC subscription packages - Galaxy, Star, Meteor - are sold at a set price yet have a monetary value appraised at a higher price. That’s because they’ve set a physical monetary amount to all the in-game items included in those DLC subscription packages.

Out of curiosity i decided to google that.
Out of the various sites including most would consider legit and well regulated sites,
A standard non-Faction Titan costs about $500 - $1200 USD if you took the risk to buy it that way fully fitted.

Hell, they’re even selling a DLC package of just skins:

Best skins of 2019! $49.99

VitalShift [Cerberus]
Lavacore [Confessor]
Metamaterial [Drekavac]
Caille Neon [Ishtar]
In Rust We Trust [Loki]
Angel’s Hex [Cynabal]
True Deliverance [Phantasm]
Abyssal Afterglow [Gila]

That’s 8 skins for $49.99 = $6.25 a skin (rounded up)

Sure seems like in-game items definitely have a monetary value.

Hypernet on the way, i jumped on the test server and tried it out, it was really cool. Good job CCP!

They’re hardly legit.
They’re explicitly against the EULA.
