the csm back this anyhow so yeah
i dont get how its a bad thing if they back it.

if they didnt then ccp did it anyway then i question the csm and there actual point of existance if they get so ignored

Well thats not really news.
CSM who show up thinking they’ll have great influence on the game get disappointed quite fast.

Your getting desperate if your trying to go off topic.

yeah iv seen that vid and honestly iv never once voted for any of them and dont realy understand their point personaly “my post was sarcastic about the csm btw”

@Brisc_Rubal you love kicking them.

Sadly all it takes is one person to record in game gambling to any government that has laws about to ban EVE from that country, and once one country does it, you know every other country with laws about it will follow very soon afterwards, due to public demand.

And suggesting players to VPN, breaks other laws in some countries.

So CCP and BA need to look very carefully into this before they roll it out on the live server.

mate im honestly not understanding how this stuff is bad in eve it might bring more players to the game and keep them logged in as they pay ccp thousands of pounds which is better in ccps coffers then in some random websites wallet right?

No, the problem is the predatory system of pushing these things onto addicts. For the record:
I have been hit by a drunk, and seen a friend of mine kill himself and other friends as a result of his own alcoholism. I still drink, and I believe alcohol should be legal. I do not believe alcohol should be marketed to minors, nor do I believe reckless and excessive drinking should be fetishized the way it is.

My grandfather died of lung cancer caused by smoking. He was so hopelessly addicted that as he lay in his bed at home, on oxygen, unable to do a goddamned thing
he was smoking. My father died of respiratory complications from smoking (and other causes) despite having quit 25 years earlier. I don’t believe in outlawing tobacco, but I do believe it shouldn’t be marketed to minors, and I don’t think it should be particularly marketed as ‘cool’, though I totally think Brando and Bogie’d look incomplete without a cig in their mouths.

My uncle was a cop in New Jersey for 20 years, including time in Atlantic City. I got horror stories of guys who couldn’t stop, every year over the winter holidays. I don’t have an issue with casinos. I don’t have any problem with betting at the track. I don’t think gambling’s a thing that should be just tossed out there without people keeping an eye on the gamblers, watching out for problem cases.

Bartenders have a responsibility to say ‘hey, buddy, you’ve had enough. You’re sloppy drunk. You’re cut off.’. People operating ways to gamble have that same responsibility. Relying on the addict to police themselves—which is all CCP’s got for safeguards here—doesn’t work.

I think they looked real hard before investing any dev time into this project.

assuming that ccp dosent have lawyers and assuming they didnt check with other countries laws and assuming they didnt think that could happen before telling us all right?

The concerns I read about lately are regulators looking at online gaming/gambling, and that that children are being ‘trained’ to gamble. No longer a concern whether there is real money or value on the table, but that an in-game gambling simulation is conditioning young people to such gambling behaviour.

The risk here is that EVE will lose it’s under-18 market entirely. Not sure that severely limiting your market is a good idea for CCP, tbh.

I guess they can cash in before the laws catch up

yeah because parents keep there kids away from games they are too young for and kids stick to age ratings right? not like theres underage drinking “i did that” and underage smoking “i did that too” like oh how strict to the laws kids are and their parents are right?

Sadly that’s not how the world works anymore.

With all the Politically Correct groups out there, it’s more the tail that wagged the dog
Majority has no say anymore as the minority groups yell louder and more often.
Hence some of the stupid policy that now exist in law and government.

Its no long logic, but feelings and conceived concept that rule.

totaly agree with you their and thats what im seeing in this whole thread
Political correctness stopping this game getting back to being the “game you shouldnt play because its too dark”

what i see in this hate of a simple raffle sugestion is quite the same to the hate dungeons and dragons got back when that started to become popular

Problem there is how can CCP police an over18 rating, they can’t, as its been proven many time under18’s have stolen parents CCards and details to gain access to R21 content online.

And all it takes in one under18 to point at EVE as the cause of they’re issues and the PC Police would be on CCP and BA in seconds.

maybe if people ignored the idiots they would move on or ccp can do that “yes we will fix it soon” thing they do to the players and never fix it “looks at fw space”

There’s a difference between the behaviors your engage in in-game being dark, and conditioning players to behave in unhealthy ways outside of the game.

That’s less likely if the game is rated 18+, though. Then CCP can say that those individuals were misusing their product and violating the ToS/EULA. With a PEGI 12+ / ESRB T rating, they can’t. They’re less protected as-is.

It’d be nice, but you keep talking. :stuck_out_tongue:

sorry for having the numbers in my wallet be my motivation for pointing out how stupid it is to think ccp are in the wrong for doing this.

if you dont want gambling to go on maybe petition ccp to remove scamming and suicide ganking other players like its not hard to ignore a feature iv been ignoring incursions and the other reskin of incursions aka trigs

Do you honestly not understand the difference between “this fictional world is a dystopia” and “CCP is actively attempting to encourage and exploit gambling addiction with real-world consequences”?

what i see in this hate of a simple raffle sugestion is quite the same to the hate dungeons and dragons got back when that started to become popular

No, it’s not at all the same. D&D got hate because of ignorant religious lunatics making up nonsense about black magic and demon summoning and generally having no concept of fiction vs. reality. CCP is getting hate here because of their blatant attempt to exploit a problem that actually exists in the real world, with real consequences for real people.

Ah, so when you call people idiots, it’s fine, but when people turn that back on you, you get all defensive and bent out of shape? Heh.

I don’t want gambling to happen badly. I want CCP, if they’re going to do this, to not do it in a slip-shod, half-assed way that doesn’t actually address any of the problems with gambling online, doesn’t address any of the concerns about ‘you guys look incredibly hypocritical right now’, and doesn’t demonstrate some of the worst QA work I’ve seen this side of a Fantastic Four movie (I mean, yikes, those were bad).

I want them, if they’re going to do it, to do it right. Do it well. Do it responsibly. Don’t half-ass it like this is.
