Introduction of the Q-Ship to bait and counter light raiders

Is this meant to be for carebears? If it is, it would be a waste of time. Carebears do not wish to fight back or protect themselves, they just want to be left alone. It is a funny idea for PvPers, though, who want to bait gankers into shooting them. For the rest of the people it is rather useless.

Courier contracts with collateral. When afraid to haul yourself pay someone else to do it and don’t bother CCP with dumb ideas for new ships.

PvP players would love it!
Let them be contracted to escort carebears in secret and wreak havoc on unprepared gankers.

those ships are not 100% safe, as you can have issues undocking jita, not having the correct instaundock, server lags, exiting gate too close to incoming AP freighter/police BS, getting bumped on the undock, well the game is not 100% safe.
Still those fits give you adequate amount of tank per isk to not be a too easy target.

I’m going to take this little line right here and say this is where it falls apart. If I target lock your ship it will tell me exactly what I am target locking. Target locking would not result in a surprise but confirm that it’s not a target.

It’s equal to calling a freighter a frigate name and a battleship ā€œCargo Obeliskā€ in theme.

I think the idea is you won’t know it is one of these Q-ships until it locks you.

My beef is it will not be used just for killing suicide gankers. My guess is that it will be used in other areas of HS as well. Hub humping war deccers might find a use for this. Undock in what looks like an easy target…whoops that’s no obelisk! And since you engaged him, you can’t dock up. Even suicide gankers might find a use for this.

Target locking won’t tell you anything other than what the Q-Ship wants it to tell you. Its a shell, like the chocolate around a kinder surprise. Its defensive. The hostile party have to initiate aggression first, which melts off the outer shell, and there it is. Q-Boat Surprise.

The Q-Ship for those not familiar with history was a vessel most effective at countering submarines, without mentioning any nations, the idea was that the Submarine would surface and tell the crew of a merchant vessel to surrender and get off their boat, before the Submarine destroyed the merchant vessel. This was seen as better option than sending defenceless men to their death.

To stay in line with the Q-Boat theme it would have a fit with a passive target locking, so the target did not know, which was the point of it.

Then we make it become reviled once it opens fire.

Then we’re breaking the Eve overview as ā€œTypeā€ is a sorting function. Sorry. I just can’t see it working without causing massive coding problems.

Can’t isn’t a word… It is an excuse.

It’s type will be whatever it is imitating, then it will update when reviled.

Confirmation that the overview will become untrustworthy when sorting by type. Doesn’t fit a niche just looks to countergank which really already can be done. What is stopping me from fitting a Viator for full tank? What is stopping me from fitting an Occator for full dps? What stops me from pulling a full tank Badger with warp scramble and target speed bonuses?

Nothing. This is undock baiting and nothing more which already can be fully done in the game.

The same could be said about transversal velocity, radial, and any other columns on the overview. Column data changes, that is the whole point of it.

Then it is not a problem to add in one more ship to the mix and see how the rest of EVE utilises it to add change to the meta.

Sure, lets let the eve online coders try and make a ship that changes its type without losing target lock which poses as another ship. Lets see how it changes the cargo when someone scans it. Lets see how it changes bumping until you’ve confirmed the cargo.

Do I detect anxiety?

Seems like the Q-Ship is already working! XD

This will be absolutely devastating to gankers.

Yes, me and my ultra elite pvp ganker killboard are suffering from anxiety.

I was joking… :frowning:

OP’s last ā€œqrap-shipā€ idea didnt fare so well so much they decided to make another one?

This is a good idea. The ā€˜surprise’ of the Q-Boat is breaking everyone’s target locks on it like a multi-spectral.

No two scans are the same. Another great idea.

The last CSM summit notes confirmed that plans to enable a bumped ship to warp after a certain time are still on the table.

Isnt there something in place like that regarding celestials and structures? I faintly remember you would eventually warp off even if you were bouncing off a rock or station for a while.
