Just because I haven’t posted in the past, this makes me an alt. You should be in politics and you can believe yourself all you like. You just don’t want it to end because you might actually have to pay instead of plexing. Its taken this long for some long time players to speak up and say things need to change. Every game needs to evolve in order to move forward. Change. Stagnation is set in its time to change or move on. So yes I was paying 2 accounts, and buying plex for extras. Over 100usd a month, I am retired and can afford to do so. Don’t be jealous you have to steal and grief noobs just to keep your Omega. I come to these forums in hope to see the changes start. The first was the wardec’ing change in Dec. Was great and a step forward to a better Eve.
Sure sure. Whatever you say.
I’m a ganker and you know exactly how plex works./s
There’s something fishy about that - 2 accounts would cost you $26/month (without multi-month discounts), so what were you spending the other $74 /month on ? 2,500 Plex a month would get you an awful lot of Skill Injectors…
EVE is a game that supports multiple playstyles. Yes, PVP is at the core of the game, but different players approach it in different ways. Not everyone embraces the ganking-style of play for example. Frankly, if that’s all EVE were, I’d be bored as hell and wouldn’t play it.
I wouldn’t let the attitudes of other players affect your interest in the game. The key is to figure out what you want to do in the game, and then try to pursue it as best you can despite obstacles. The playstyle of other players may get in the way of that at times, but there are ways to adapt and reduce the risk of your goals being thwarted.
Reading some of your earlier posts, I noticed you mentioned the time it took to save up for better ships and the cost of replacing them when lost. I would agree that it takes time to learn how to make ISK in the game in decent amounts. Learning from others can help with this, but there is still a personal learning curve.
In particular, learning to balance risk-vs-reward for different activities takes time. However, this is a central part of EVE and is part of the challenge. The mantra of “don’t fly what you can’t afford to lose” is 100% true, even in high-sec. That said, with experience one can mitigate the risk for specific activities.
EVE is a game that only gives you as much as you put into it. It rewards effort, adaptability, perseverance, and a general willingness to learn. If one has weaknesses in one or more of these areas, then it will probably be difficult for an individual player to ultimately enjoy the game. However, I advise sticking with it as best you can before deciding whether the game is for you or not. Don’t give up at the first sign of problems; see if you can adapt what you are doing to overcome the situations you are encountering.
You consented to PVP by undocking. Working as intended. No issue.
Let us know how hello kitty online is treating you.
There are multiple ways to avoid those players.
Most of them belong to known corporations, and you can set them as negative contacts so they stand out in local chat.
Mining while aligned to a station allows you to warp off quickly, so when you would see these people pop up in local, you hit dock, and voila! You are safe.
Using Dscan is also an easy way to spot incoming trouble. If you suddenly see 15 catalysts on Dscan, just warp off immediately.
Having an appropriate tank fitted to your ship is always helpful and can potentially save you from the attack.
Losing a few ships is not the end of the world, you can always buy another and learn from the experience. Learning to foil the occasional attack is part of the process (and dare I say it, fun!) of Eve. It sounds like this is not something you want to do. You just want to sit and stare at your screen in complete safety with no goals and no risk.
That is not a game, that is a screen saver

I hope you’re still reading.
I just found this thread by accident, while checking (as I suppose you were, to see what changes there have been to EVE since I last played (which started two weeks before Alpha Clones became available).
FWIW, other times when I’ve tried playing EVE I had similar issues with getting set up, and your post suggests this hasn’t changed.
My experience was similar: it took far too long to make enough ISK to obey the principle “Don’t fly what you can’t afford to lose”. The alternative approaches I considered all involved breaking that rule, and I learned on my first trial that doing so with a PvE-fitted ship is a magnet for gankers.
There must be ways to get started in EVE, because a few beginners stay. But there are too many unnecessary “speed bumps” along the way.
IMO the income from low-level missions (like SoE) should be increased at least 10 fold (perhaps 50 times) so beginners can reliably make enough ISK so they can afford to lose any number of their “T1/T1” frigates and cruisers.
OTOH when I dared to suggest that in this very forum it attracted a storm of protests. Mostly, of course, from people who make so much ISK so easily they can afford to buy all the PLEX they need for multiple accounts with the ISK they earn, and hence contribute nothing to CCP /lol.
if eve dies,… what other mmos can we play?
i mean,… for me eve is one of the last real mmorpgs on the market atm! for real, the whole market sucks so bad! so many fake mmos that are singleplayer games with coop option and sharding/crossrealm/layering fake worlds.
a real mmorpg should just use one big server/world, like eve online!
one server, one community!!
the only 2options for me would be star citizen (maybe in 100years), or elite dangerous (flying ur ship by urself is awesome but im starting to love eves Combat/flightsystem, its very relaxing)
also there is wow classic release in a few months but it seems like blizzard will ruin it with sharding and other anti mmo systems (they are unable to use their old server hardware from 10years ago that was much better/stable than their new server hardware/cloudbase system LMAO)
so the only real option for me is eve online!
atm the population is between 21-30k players 24/7(thats still a awesome Population) but i really would love to see it back on 50-60k!!!
i regret it that years ago i never gave this game a real chance (back in the day i didnt like the combat/flight system and i was just to young/stupid for a complex game like eve!)
now im having a blast playin eve! like every aspect of the game is fun for me! i love pve, mining/crafting, exploration but i also love pvp!! cant wait to gank other people or get myself ganked :DD i miss real pvp in alot of todays mmos! (to know that everything i lose or i destroy, does affect the economy of the world is real fun for me, and i got really sick of most carebear systems other mmos are using)
i have so much fun with eve and now i hear people talking about eve is dying,… thats like the biggest downer for me and i really hope that it isnt true!!!
one more thing i dislike about eve is that ccp did remove the captains quarter
alot of new players dont like the fact that they are working for hours on the perfect character appearance just to see it in a stupid window.
i bet eve could get alot of players back with a walking in station feature were players could meet up in stations, maybe decorate it set up bars/corp stations with npcs(agency) and social rooms were people could see/talk with each other, maybe add some emotes, just some basic mmoRPG stuff^^
i mean cmon the characters in this game look so awesome good but there isnt any use of em, u just have ur picture and thats it,… its a freakin joke^^ if they dont bring back captainsquarter or walking in ship/Station, why even have a awesome character creation like this at start? at least just let players walk around or meet eachother in their own ships or some Little space stations/bars.… i just love social rpg stuff in mmos, i cant help it lol
some awesome dream would be a second combat system were u could fight with ur char on stations or planets,… yea i know… this will never happend,… (looks at star citizen)
i remember some ps4 crossover game were people would fight on planets but everything would happen in the same universe like in eve,… what happend to this game? did it work it anyway? ccp could give us so much awesome stuff……
also i would love to see a smuggling comeback, its freakin wierd that they made every drug legal…
maybe make players able to scan for drugs and hunt down the smugglers for money; idk atleast bring the old smgg system back… pls^^
I just hope now that eve isn’t dying!
the game is just too awesome and too much fun!!
there is no game like eve atm! it cannot die!.. pls dont^^
EDIT:
im just reading alot of stuff in this thread about people crying about eves open pvp system.
eve pvp system is awesome because it is freedome! every player should have the freedome to attack anyone, everywhere, doesnt matter if its a new players or a billion isk veteran!
the way eve handles this kind of pvp system (concord and other consequences) is fine and more than enough!! people who want a no pvp galaxie and no pvp carebear zones,… pls just quit the game now and go back to hello kitty online or retail world of warcraft before u kill the next awesome mmorpg!
i never had any problems with ganking! if u follow easy rules, and dont play without a brain, u cant really die in highsec and even if u do, SO WHAT?
making money in eve is damn easy! too easy for my taste!!
and if u are one of those people who have problems to learn by urself, then just ask for help or better, look for a nice corporation! todays gamer generation seems to forget that mmorpgs aren singleplayer games! mmorpgs are focused on community/group play and always will be! all those singleplayer fake mmos destroyed the marked and look what happend to these game!!
same thing is with pvp, u can solo pvp in eve, but u will be always stronger in a big group of friends!
a real mmorpg will always work like this! with a community u will beat anything! if u dont like social group/guild(corp) gameplay in mmos, pls just quit and play a singleplayer rpg! i saw so many awesome mmorpgs get destroyed in the favor of brainless singleplayer carebear babys, i cant take this ■■■■ anymore im sry!
i still dont get it, why are people starting with a game that got open full loot pvp if they hate such a system and just want to get it changed in their favor?
i dont go over to hello kitty online and ask the devs to change their cuddle system into a hardcore pvp full loot system because i know that 99% of their playerbase like the hello kitty system! i just search for a other game that got the system i like and i found it (eve online)!
adding new content/features is always ok and needed but changeing the core systems of a game will always kill the game and the community!
if u dont believe me just look at ultima online, star wars galaxies, world of warcraft, and fonline 2238 etc
all these games got fuckd up by casuals/carebears wanting it more easy, with no danger and gettin stuff easy with no effort!
and just a info for ccp:
do NOT focus the game on carebears and casuals,… this killed any mmorpg in the last years! stay true to ur target audience just learn from Blizzard or SOE… Blizzard did lose over 10mill players because they made retail wow a brainless singleplayer carebear game, players dont talk with eachother,no one plays in a group u can solo everything, most servers are dead and now they need to bring back classic servers to get their players back from vanilla private Servers(lol even the Blizzard admins tell u to wait for the old original mmorpg wow),… and SOE(sony online entertaiment)…. well they destroyd star wars galaxies so hard that their company broke too,… soe is gone lol… btw u can still play the old good version from swg, some hardcore fans made a Emulator and they still workin on the game since 12-14 years idk anymore lol
swg was one of the best sandbox mmos ive ever playd but casuals destroyed it too, they wanted the game more easy and casual friendly… in the end it was so casual that all the servers were empty….
just learn from it, cpp!
if ccp would really rework eve into a boring easy carebear mmo(for exampel by adding no pvp zones) i gonna quit my sub faster than lightspeed!
Some times you should just let the thread fade away…
oh sry!!
i just saw how old this thread is! lol
honestly i havent been that thrilled about eve lately. I dont think eve is dying but in terms of the players, it has become way to blue. everyone wants to hold hands and be all friendly and when wars come around its usually two huge allainces (goons, test, imperuim) just blue balling each other and no real skirmishes. i miss the days of the 30/40 man fleets of HACs just busting each other up. even the 10/20 man cap fleets just dropping on each other for fun to see who can outlast who. all the small gang ■■■■ that would escalate into 4 team fights from roaming games.
Eve is not dieing. The new CCP has killed the old Eve. Whatever cluster@#$#@ direction this new dev team is going I don’t think I want on.
Apparently the way I like to play this game went out with the devs that have left this once fine company.
So I can has your stuff ??
BAHAHAH, man this topic does not die.
EvE will burn!!! if the population exceeds 6k peeps…rolls out cold war, crashes and burns.
Pubies posting end is near!!!..about 14 years later here we are talking about the same tripe.
Good riddance.
The only thing that is dying in eve is unlicensed miners.
Praise James 315
Eve is half dead or half alive take your pick.
Eve has been dying since launch.
It’s only dead when the servers shut off for good.
And even then certain people on these forums will still be complaining about Eve being unfair to them personally…
The other evening when I logged on there were only 17k online, that seemed a bit low to me.
Not surprising with all the changes.
Still once they’ve driven all the PvE players away I’m sure the influx of PvP players (laughs) will make things right.
