Sell it first, then get more if you want to use hookbill.
It is pretty decent, and is a kitey ship, better than kestrel, but right now it is not worth it.
is it viable if I save the hookbill later for running L2 or even L3 missions?
Id take a dual web brawling kestrel any day over a condor, but that’s because I prefer brawling over kiting.
Remember this, PvP in EvE is like a giant game of rock paper scissors.
One ships paper is another ships rock.
Once you pick a side, you can use http://jerkasauruswrecks.com/t/map/ to find enemy systems, if you will not use the ingame FW menu.
do people armor tank the kestrel??
Yes. And I have.
But to be perfectly honest. I’m not a big fan of the Kestrel.
I prefer the merlin, tormentor and rifter.
I thought merlin sucks in pvp? I cant seem to make a good fit out of it, maybe its just because im too noob. can you plz show me how u fitted it? thx
It would be easier to link you a merlin I lost from my zkillboard.
But just because I lost a merlin doesn’t mean it’s a bad fit.
Like I said, pvp with frigates is like a game of rock paper scissors.
yo guys im so happy I just bought a hookbill with LP!!! now im gonna save up for a caracal navy issue and run L3 missions with it!!! so excited!!!
Anyone give a hookbill fit for speed running L2 missions thats under 20-30M? plz?
Sadly, I do not have one. I do not use pirate faction frigates except for the Asteros.
I think the trade off with light missiles is the great range you get vs the small turrets.
damn I am keep being rekt in fw, cant seem to kill anyone. I can only sneakily capture sites although I want to fight people. I also keep being killed by Tristans fitted with kiting drones and stuff so annoying.
Not every ship and fit can fight every other ship. Look through the frigate yearbook above for something that counters kiting ships and see if you do better with that. Also, you’re always going to be at a disadvantage going into an occupied plex because the defender gets to decide at what range the engagement begins.
Taarka hit the nail on the head here.
That yearbook is extremely helpful, and sliding into plexes always puts you at the disadvantage because they have range dictation.
wait wait wait… so you are telling me that some plex are unoccupied? How do I see if someone is already in the site anyways? I know dscan show enemy ships but doesnt show where they are right? also defensive plexing earns too little, I gotta risk it and attack enemy sites.
wait but how do I know if someone is in the plex? do I must have a probe launcher or something?
No,
Use your d-scanner
Set it to 5 degrees, aim it at the plex in question and scan.
It can also be used defensively. Set it to 1 or 2 AU, 360 degrees and ping every 3 seconds and if ships show up on it, you know they are incoming and or close and use that information to determine if its a fight you can take.
Knowledge is power in this game, and the d-scanner is one of the best tools at your disposal in gathering information on your surroundings and other players in your area.
This, coupled with the local chat box can be invaluable. Use the local chatbox and zkillboard to determine who is most likely flying that ship, and use the loss board on zkillboard to get an idea of what the likely fit is going to be.
Knowledge wins fights. Not superior character skills.
yes, an experienced pilot using a condor(might) take down a 100 mil frig.
Part of the trick with dscan is learning to turn on the “Auto Tracking”. When that is on, whatver you click on in the “Overview” will be centered on your display. This will apply to where your dscan is pointed when using a scan cone less than 360 degrees.
You can also incrementally decrease the scan range until the ship you see disappears which will tell you about how far away it is. Match that with the distances you see in the Overview and you can be fairly certain you know at what celestial they are.
Hanging out in Pochenhell fixing my standings has given me some practice using dscan to find rogue drones and avoiding the folks who want to wreck my ship.
Remember that if your dscan sees them, they can see you the same way.
