Is Hisec ganking good for the game?

The term “ganking” did not start with EVE and it is not unique to EVE. The starter of this thread was quite right to say “Hisec ganking” because the general term “ganking” can well apply to attacks in low sec where the attacker or attackers have a ridiculously huge advantage, especially by virture of numbers but also by surprise. Ganks can happen anywhere, but hisec ganking in EVE has some unique features.

What happens in the low sec border gate camps of Frulegur is correctly called “ganking”, and those guys are gankers.

I can assure you that the last time I ate dinner, brushed my teeth and took a dump had no potential or intent of griefing. I live alone BTW.

And if someone felt griefed when I taught a class, bought my groceries, or glanced at them, well that was purely accidental (no intent) and if I had a clue they felt griefed, I would try to assure them otherwise since it wasn’t there.

Frankly, I have to wonder about your interactions and perceptions of others that made you type what I quoted. Destroying someone’s property, even if it is in-game, does represent a loss of time…a precious limited item…and I assure you, its real, even when you play a video game.

Hi, do you happen to know @Ridley_Rohan then? He’s also an American living in Japan, EVE player and avid poster on the forums in General and Crime&Punishment

Wait, did Ridley get banned again?

there’s a difference between griefing and ganking… it would help if you would differentiate the two.

@Gerard_Amatin he’s been active so i don’t think so.
@Jim_Halescott is in japan too, i think he’s american.

I guess you have forgotten. I am Ridley Rohan, Renly Rohan AND Erick Jakuard. And I NEVER tried to hide it, not even when all three liked the same post (rare as that is).

Also, I post as no one else. Those who accuse me otherwise simply lack integrity.

Are you talking to me???

that explains it.

I knew Renley and remember you mentioned a third, but I don’t think I ever knew the name.

What happened that you’re posting on an alt?

The usual but if I went into detail, I would get trouble.

In the flurry of posting you may have missed my question.

no i saw it… and yes i was talking to you. in EVE, and most games, there is a stark difference and contrast between ganking and griefing… thats why one is illegal in eve and the other isn’t.

Of course there is a difference, and I totally differentiated. I honestly cannot imagine how you could think otherwise.

I beg to differ about the “legality” though. How much griefing one can get away with in EVE depends on various factors. But if it was claimed that griefing got more nods of approval here than most other games, I would not doubt it. Just look at this forum of pestilence.

Now That I think about it more, It would be cool if CCP could develop dual mode ships. Use the miners/haulers as test beds. Offense mode - Minning mode ETC. You don’t have to make the offense mode crazy, just average dps or below to fight back. Maybe this would help get more players into PVP and expose them to combat.

Just a thought I had, The goal should be to get miners and haulers like myself to engage during the situation. Or CCP could try providing more interactive escape tools.

CCP’s property. The player doesn’t own anything in game. They purely have the rights to its use while they play

Frankly this discussion is insane. ITS A VIDEO GAME BASED AROUND SPACE CONFLICT.

Blowing up other players is kinda the point. You are intentionally conflating intended gameplay with online abuse. The two are very different.
