It does rather amaze me that so many alliances leave this costly and important role to a single player who often is a weak link. One reason is perhaps that often they do multiple smallish purchase contracts for their members, so while it is a large amount in terms of ISK it is often spread around a lot of people and is not something that would cause an issue, but that was before CCP pushed scarcity.

Aside from people being lazy one of the problems there is you often get a small number or just 1 person who sets themselves up in the role - usually someone who is fairly high up/founding member and it kind of becomes their turf so to speak - they often end up getting resentful that other people don’t pull their weight while the other people often find it difficult to get involved.

Hypothetically: what if we increase the dangers of hauling?

I don’t see a problem with increasing the dangers of hauling but it shouldn’t be a one way road - one of the problems with Eve is that it is far too easy to high-sec gank without consequences.

I always used to assume it was a hostile environment and anything of any value haul in a Prowler(s) - something which isn’t readily accessible to a new player. Though that doesn’t help if you want to transport a bunch of ships in one go but then you always had the jump freighter to work around that.

People talk about escorts but in high-sec that is largely useless unless you are at war, etc. with the gankers, it is a drop in the ocean vs a swarm of destroyers and useless against stuff like Tornados.

There’s no isk in Highseck hauling, for two reasons:

1. other players don’t value it, and don’t care
2. lots of people do it for trivial amounts of isk

This is pure market economics.

I agree to both comments, for nullsec the most important being the JF and alt to do the cyno’s.

This is the issue, it has been improved a little by the ending of unlimited bumping, so winning the DPS vs tank race may enable you to get away but it is rather trivial to re-set the bump timer with a suicide Ibis for example.

People should make it more difficult for gankers within the game, still it is not a trivial thing to organise, whereas a ganker can log on all his accounts and get to it, not so much for the escorts. Excessive multi-boxing will always be an issue.

However as I was focussing on solo hisec haulers as the issue more than anything else it is not quite as easy as that, at least for them.

Im talking about hauling where you dont get scammed and the reward is relatively reasonable.

But its annoying that instead of agreeing with any of the various ways to avoid loss I or anyone else mentioned, you pick something to pry at as a flaw because it wont work in a specific circumstance.

I thought it was quite clear that my focus was looking at this from the point of view of solo hisec hauler players doing courier contracts. So I was merely reminding you that the most important part of your suggestion was not possible and it negates what you posted.

That you get annoyed and blame me is your issue not mine.

Also in terms of that third point I raised with Aiko, it is an important factor is it not and has nothing to do with internet points or whatever forum wars you have decided to get into.
