Is it even worth it?

I wish CCP gave Aura a bigger role in EVE.

Maybe I’ve watched too much anime, but I always imagined how awesome it would be if Aura was this dope tsundere waifu type of AI that would start out trash-talking you, like you’re shooting someone in your Hyperion and she says “heh, you call that DPS? I’ll show you some real DPS! Setting ramming course!..Just kidding, loser!” But over time would start to become nicer to you, helping out with your ship and such, like: “I’ve dissipated some of the heat from your modules. D…Don’t get the wrong idea! It’s n-not like I did it because I like you or anything, you baka…” Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Man, why the ■■■■ are you people looking at me like that?

Suggesting that using alts is not a option that even the most basic of eve player chooses invalidates the rest of your drivel.

This is a big part of the problem with EVE specifically and MMO anonymity generally. If you want a game to survive, it has to grow the player base. That means engaging new / frustrated players, redirecting their efforts to strategies or areas of the game they will find more enjoyable, and pushing for clarity when their frustrations with the user experience are unclear. the new player chat is a dumpster fire, forums are snarky and dismissive, and internet anonymity incentivises these conditions. Why read a point and point things in a positive direction when I can posture as a superior player, dismiss your (poorly articulated) objections to the game, and feel proud of my sick burn? gf bro, gf.

Calm down miner. You only need one character.

Alts make it much easier.

First of you get faster into all kinds of things, i.e. one character trains exploration while the other trains industry etc. Or you have your alt scan systems in front of you for gatecamps/bubbles etc in an interceptor.

Do you need an alt to play the game to do many activities? No, but it does offers some QoL improvements that you almost cant miss out on.
