Since biographies are apparently public info, where do I write private stuff like “I am the alt specialized in lasers”
There is a notepad you can use in game under the Utilities section.

Also on a pilot you come across in systems you travel through you are also able to add notes on that pilot as well as make notes on your pilot.

Both the private note options are already mentioned above.
I like the notes per player to keep info on other players and track who is alts of who, what their favourite exploration ship is if I come across them while exploring or other info that I don’t want to remember but can help me next time I see them in space.
If you want to have notes for your own alts you could also use the public bio to write a fun bio about lasers on your laser character.
