Is it worth it to come back?

To be fair I do admit there is a need for something like this. On the week if I don’t have good mission to farm I just dive into abyss… after doing trade and industry management I just don’t have much time left for something taking over 40 minutes.

Would you mind explaining what an “isk sink” is?

If you base your views on the Eve forums…, what can I say?

The Eve player base moans all the time.

But if your intention is to find fights either solo or in a small gang, you will find it a lot worse than it was three years ago.

Hisec has some improvements, they are doing the Trig invasion here and they have moon mining in 0.5 systems which does generate content, though people of course moaning about shooting structures because moaning is their thing…

War decs have been improved so no more of this blanket war decs on hisec corps for no reason other than easy farming. However the War HQ does need to be vulnerable in the TZ of the defender to put the final piece in the puzzle.

Eve is still the complex think and be hard to kill and develop stuff with meaningful loss game that it was before you joined, when you left and when you looked at it again. It is pretty as hell and if you want to test yourself go play with eth diamond rats in hisec, known as FOB rats, or check out the Trig invasion stuff.

The Triglavian ships are really nice, I really like the Leshak for example and will be really interested in the AF and HAC when they get down to a reasonable price. Skill books for the destroyer and the T2 small and medium weapons specialisations are a bit meh, but…

In fact at the moment I am rather enjoying myself, but I really wish they would sort out bumping as it makes freighter farming too easy, this is my only real gripe.

Isk faucet is when isk is created - for example: mission rewards, bounties for rats, insurance.
Isk sink is when isk is disappearing from economy - for example: market fees, industry fees, lp store.

Some of these balance out (lp store and mission rewards I believe are at roughly same level). Some don’t - insurance and bounties don’t have any balancing factors.

In principle isk is created in abyss from triglavian datastreams… but unless you get crazy amount of them above T3 I don’t see it as much of faucet. Isk in triglavian stuff is mostly from selling loots you get - i.e. you have to trade it. This by itself doesn’t create isk, just redistributes it (and makes a bit of it to disappear due to market fees).

While I agree that tz tanking is prevalent I do believe that increase in population of player from China is going to make this less and less viable. Just wait for a moment when some Chinese decide to become wardec corp (or join PIRAT… then anyone can forget about bashing their HQ).

I’m confused, how does ship dying in the Abyss act like an isk sink? Doesn’t the isk someone spent to buy the ship just go to the person selling it on market?

Aren’t there NPC buy orders for some of the triglavian loot? That makes it sound like isk is created since it’s coming from an NPC.

Yes. But don’t forget about market fees. They also use expensive implants - which often come from lp stores.

Only for datastreams. 100K per each. I don’t remember getting more than 2-3 mill from T3 in them.

But don’t most people just buy them off the market?

I get around 60-70m of these each time I run a T5. So…

I don’t know, by your own definitions, I don’t think Abyssal sites are isk sinks, and are instead isk faucets. Unless there’s something I’m missing here?

That is not the point, the objective is to get people to fight their wars. How can you turn carbears into carbears with teeth when the so called elite PvP’rs time zone tank.

Yes. They do. And where do they come from? LP store ultimately,

Ok, then it is isk faucet. And a somewhat decent one. Although I doubt you can multibox T5 so it shouldn’t pose problems.

It’s pretty easy with a Gila. And I know several people who do. There are other people who also triple box the Frigate sites and make 300-400m per hour in those Triglavian surveys. And what “problems” are you talking about? I thought we were just talking about Isk Sinks and Faucets?

My point is that those pvpers (and anyone else) will have to stop betting on timezone tanking as there is always a risk of fleet of Chinese capsuleers coming in and bashing your structure while you can’t defend it as you did a bet on tz tank. And that alone may push timers more towards where everyone is active and in effect creating actual fights from wardecs.

I believe that the mechanic needs to be changed to make this happen, because the objective of allowing war dec’s by CONCORD in the first place is to train the capsuleers to fight and their design is failing in terms of this issue.

We want fights in space! How the hell can I develop people to go and fight if they have to get up in the middle of the night to do so? Seriously stupid…

Gosh, why risk 3 blinged frigs when I can solo run l4s and get 200M … in <1B loki… time train into paladin and about double the rewards.

To be fair multiboxing 3 frigs he is running one site. I don’t know how much you can multibox with gila. But what I mean is that people won’t be doing afk gilas in abyss - which is a bit of a problem due to creating too much isk.

When faucets and sinks are not balanced there is risk of inflation, including rampant one.

That’s nice for you, I guess? Why are you trying to make this a isk/hr competition? I’m just saying, I know people who do this.

There’s always been inflation though. What metric are you using to measure whether inflation is “rampant” ?

Increase in the prices of goods. And I don’t see much inflation right now. Only not enough manufacture (price of inputs is not increasing - I know, I do mostly industry). Sometimes there is a spike in prices of some goods but e.g. sudden increase in price of damage control II from ~500K to ~800K is not due to inflation.

Overall I don’t see much of inflation (only plex prices inflated, but mostly due to demand).

Is that how inflation is measured? Can you give me some examples of items that I can also look at to see whether there is inflation or not?

But how do you know? What are you looking at when you say “I don’t see much of inflation” ?

The cost of manufacture. If it is decreasing while prices are increasing it means that not enough people are making things. This is generally the case with T2.

The cost of manufacture of… what? Are you talking about the cost going up or down? Of capital ships? T2 products?

And how do you know it’s due to inflation and not just an increase in demand, like:

Sorry I’m asking a lot of questions, I’m just really confused.

OK, man. I know it is not that easy to see, especially if you don’t run larger scale manufacture. My spreadsheets state cost of inputs is decreasing steadily. All the while market prices are raising (except ships, I got no clue why ppl make things only to lose isk).

But surely, you don’t expect me to tell you what I am making crazy profits on? Part of the reason why some things are undermanufactured is that anyone who sees profits soaring on something is keeping silent to cash in as much as they can.

Funny thing is that even some t1 ammo can have crazy margins… can be good for alphas as a way to generate extra income for nearly no work.

No problem. These things are really seen only by those who trade and manufacture at larger scales. Otherwise it is easy to miss such trends.
