Is there a way to save keyboard shortcuts in case of required Eve reinstall?

Not a new player but I don’t see any other help subforum.

I’d absolutely love to save keyboard shortcuts and share them to my alts.
I can’t see a way to do it. Help anyone?

Clearing client settings and the client side cache data

You can backup your cache folder in order to restore your settings. I’m not sure if there’s a way to easily share shortcuts though.

I run on Linux and have used

Bertral/EANM

to copy character profiles.

Now, it’s a Java package so there’s no reason it can’t be used under Windows, but you need a JRE installed (not sure if Windows gas that by default) and you need to run it as a command line.

@Shipwreck_Jones is correct - the keyboard shortcuts are stored in the client settings files. Specifically, they are account-level settings stored in the ‘core_user_########.dat’ files (where the ### value corresponds to the associated user account) under the ‘localization’ heading. I’m not sure these can be extracted and pasted into the file for another account without corrupting the settings; it would really depend on the capabilities of whatever tool you use to edit the files and whether you can preserve the record properly. You could share the file by editing the user #### in the file name, but it will share all of the settings in the file, not just the key bindings.

I found the files thank you! They should be named like core_user_12255983 right?
I have trouble properly opening it though. I tried Notepad, Notepad++, Internet Explorer, Mozzilla Firefox, VLC. For all those I get nothing or a long document with half of the characters being weird symbols.

If I can at least get names from these files I can copy them like you wrote. Actually I would be glad for all accounts to be set the samy way, I don’t do crazy multiboxing stuff or anything like that.
Well for mining I do a bit but you know what I mean.

In the meanwhile I made a quality of life request about this. If you’re interested like me maybe give me a like so it hopefully get exposed better to CCP.

Suggestion: Ability to save and share keyboard shortcuts Keywords: UI, keyboard shortcuts Note: Useful to save time on setting them every time Eve is reinstalled. I use a good amount of keyboard shortcuts because manually clicking with mouse through menus isn’t fast nor comfortable enough. With every time I have to reinstall Eve, like after HDD format for example, I lose all of my shortcuts and it’s annoying to set them one by one yet again.

Manually copy settings between characters and accounts

Hi all, here’s the new guide for copy settings between characters. It works under Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Personally tested under Windows 10 and 7. The Overview can be saved and exported/imported directly in game. But not the windows settings, arrangement, UI, buttons, etc. Or at least I don’t know how to, past this procedure.
