Hey CCP,
Im building a ISK-tracker for Incursions, perhaps it could be a isk-tracker for everyone later on. I got some issues wit ESI-lag.
GET /characters/{character_id}/wallet/journal/ is cached for up to 3600 seconds, while GET /characters/{character_id}/wallet/ (balance) is cached for only 120 seconds. That’s a 30x gap between two endpoints that are normally used together.
This makes journal-based income tracking (ISK/hour tools for incursion fleets, mission runners, etc.) unreliable in real time - the balance updates within ~2 minutes of a payout, but the journal entry explaining why it changed can take up to an hour to show up. Tools that rely on the journal (to filter by ref_type, e.g. only counting incursion rewards and not market/mission income) end up showing stale or frozen numbers for long stretches even during continuous, active play.
This isn’t new - it’s been raised before (e.g. esi-issues #546, and the old wallet-journal Trello card), but it doesn’t look like it’s been addressed.
Ask: could the wallet journal cache time be brought closer in line with the balance endpoint (or at least meaningfully reduced from 1h)? Doesn’t need to be real-time - even 5-10 minutes would make a big difference for community tools built around it.
