That is, new large ships, buses that could carry 20 pilots and transport them all to a new location. These ships should be both for individual use and as NPS. Alternatively, two types of buses: a light, high-speed one for pilots only, and an ultra-heavy one for pilots and ships. Interbus Corporation could very well enter the market with this proposal.
Iām not sure how this idea would workā¦
Mainly because a Capsuleer has to be logged into the game for their clone to be active⦠And what are they going to do during the Bus ride?
Now if a bunch of Capsuleer clones were in that Bus, only the Driverās skills would apply to the Bus⦠Also itād be way too easy for everybody to lose their clones and ships to a gank squad sitting at a gate..
I gotta say this is definitely a way outside of the box idea, Iāll give you creds for thinking it up..
Other than that, itās a no-go for meā¦
Being flown by another player while I am online and cannot do anything but watch doesnāt sound all that interesting to me.
Weāve already got an auto-pilot feature to do this!
What I would instead like to see as addition to EVE is the ability to get transported by some ābus driverā while the player is not online.
A courier contract, but for player pods.
Iāve had an idea like that earlier, maybe this is similar to what youāre looking for: Transportable Clones, Storable Implant sets: CRYOPODS!
A person could take on a hauling job to move other playerās pods and deliver them to their destinations as a bus driver.
Pretty sure there is a game with a āmountā that allows seating for two, just make it a shuttle type and call it the Friend Ship.
All options are possible. You can be present during the transfer. You can transfer pilots or pilots and ships while theyāre offline. I like the idea of āāoffline transfers specifically because it will help large groups of players move from place to place during corporation relocations. It will also help players with multiple accounts by speeding up the transfer process somewhat. Besides, itās cool to have public transportation.
If you need to go 30+ jumps this isnāt a bad idea at all. Youāll get your pilot on the bus and the āābus driverāā will fly you. Youāll have to be logged on, of course, but you can be AFK and use that time more productively. Or do your industry jobs, PD, planets, or whatever else passive in-game.
This sounds like an interesting alternative for autopiloting, except I can imagine the buses would be huge gank-magnets. If you canāt take your ship along with you or āāluggageāā itās probably pointless just for the ride alone, but taking luggage and ships will only increase gank-appeal. So, itās likely not happening with the way New Edenās social fabric works.
This I do not support. All participants on the āāpublic transportāā should be online pilots. Moving around in the game should not become a passive activity like skill training.
Well, I already said this idea is definitely a no-go for meā¦
Anyway, most of those activities require the clone to be within a certain distance for access..
The main issue I have with this idea is not being in control of your clone during the ride⦠Meaning you canāt take over āDriving the Busā to go where you want to go and more importantly, you canāt help keep it from getting ganked⦠Not to mention your fitting / piloting skills would be inactive during the āRide-alongāā¦
Sorry man but Iād never trust my max trained multi-billion ISK clone to be safe with somebody else piloting⦠What if the 'Bus Driver is low skilled and or inexperienced compared to you and the Bus getās ganked enroute to itās destination? Is the Bus Driver going to replace your clone implants? Also not to mention your clone has now become somebodyās Killboard statisticā¦
The only āBus Rideā Iād agree to use and pay for = an automatic process done off-line that moves my implanted clone to another station when I log back into the game⦠In other words, my implanted clone is perfectly safe with no physical presence in space during the automatic moveā¦
Course thatās not in the spirit of Eve so like I said earlier, this idea is definitely a no-go for meā¦
I just use jump clones.
That would be about as dumb as autopiloting it in a Leopard through Dodixie-Rens pipe. Empty clones, low-skilled alts, though ā they could use this kind of an option.
Iām not saying this is a brilliant idea. Not even saying I would use it myself. But the idea has some interesting aspects and potential for game play. Maybe the bus could have some low-level jump capability, for example? To balance out the risk and loss of control passengers would be taking.
Youād have to get to the destination station first, in order to install clone, and jump to it.
I use jump clones as well, but their number is limited. Even more so when you use different clones for different activities (i.e. industry clone, tank clone, damage clone, scanning clone, boosting clone, etc) rather than for moving around.
if this were to be implementedā¦
1.) npc pilot/ship only
2.) offline characters only at bus statiion
3.) bus has to appear for ganking, and be slower than using Auto pilot
4.) no capsules, if it gets gankedā¦you lose any sp not backed up by your latest clone insurance program.
You know, I spend four hours a day, seven days a week, on production-related activities. Now Iāve replaced it with an event. And I have enough flying. Flights with trucks, flights with a planetary, flights to buy and sell⦠And I havenāt been ganked once in six years, thatās the thing. But now that Iāve done an event with a bunch of pilots, I have little interest in dragging them all to Dodixie to exchange for another 250 points. One by one, 15 jumps one way, then the other. Not fun at all. And Iāve also got my eye on another region and would like to start production there and launch planetary production. And then Iāll have to drag all my accounts one by one. All 40 jumps. Do you really think I couldnāt do that, and after six years in EVE I need more training? That I have nothing better to do? Well then, letās make production 1 account - 1 factory - 1 task for producing 1 ship. Thatās the only way. Seriously, letās stop saving pilotsā time. Letās get rid of F1 and add manual docking. We have too much time on our hands!
Iād suggest giving them a choice. Of course, you could transport your lead pilot along with the others in a bus you pilot. Or you could just skip it altogether. But if you have three pilots who are solely dedicated to planetary production and donāt have any implants, why not send them to another region on a courier ship? Is it really that much fun to transport them yourself? Alternatively, you could make pilots personally responsible for their cargo. Or make the buses especially fat.
If we were going to do a ābusā system, I would rather have it take the form of āturn a jump clone into an inventory itemā with said jump clone then being installable remotely with a right-click through the assets window, than something using dedicated ships that would likely see very little use.
You could create your clone, package it up, courier it off (or load it onto an alt), then when it arrives you can install it. Naturally pulling your clone out of the station/structure/superās clone bay to stuff it into a mobile life support unit would be fairly pricey, so you wouldnāt want to do this just for empty clones when manually moving around in a shuttle or travelceptor is a reasonable option unless youāre just too space-rich to care, and the unit would be bulky, so you couldnāt just stuff ten clones in a shuttle either. This would also let you prep clones with implants in your super if thatās a particular convenience you value.
Being moved around while not online.
and yes, you return the next day and log in either at your destination or your home system.
The third option is you are still sitting in deep space.
