Long ago, in a galaxy far away…
…you could put players on your watch list or contacts without their knowledge or permission.
When they logged on, their little photo popped up in the corner of your screen with a green dot (logging in) or a red dot (logging out).
I had a small list of the game’s more notorious characters on mine, just for fun. 2 of which were The Mittani and James 315.
Over about a 6 month period I witnessed a strange phenomena that occurred over, and over… and over. Like clockwork.
One would log on… then off after some time. Then seemingly like magic the other character of the two would log on. Sometimes it was a back and forth a handful of times in one of my gaming sessions.
Almost as if someone was doing upkeep on alt accounts.
Either there was some mystical, ethereal telepathic connection between these 2 people, or they were simply the same person.
I’ll end with this… I posted this experience on another account long ago in a thread about the very subject. Shockingly, within weeks of that post, CCP magically changed the contact list to require a player’s explicit permission to allow you to see when they log on and off.

Or you realize they could have alts you don’t know about and are logging on to them instead right?

I would love it if James and Mittens were the same person. That would be amazing. One dude, who basically never actually logged in to interact with spaceships in the game, would have single-handedly done more to impact every single player in high AND null for over a decade then basically every other player combined. Every thread about ganking, every strategic decision by any group in null in ten years because of one nerd who sells furniture.

Yeah and sometimes Mittens would fleet up back in the day. But both of them loved the big meta game way more

Indeed it’s been said many times, just before he left this time he said he was going to try a new character and run thought the new air training program.
So I’m sure he’s still around, let’s watch out for groups of new players appearing and effecting the balance in eve some way,
Keep your eyes open for any unusual meta gaming by a group of new players and report back here.
