Just A Thought to make EVE more enjoyable for newbs

Sigh… It is an opinion… and the reason I said relax is because you are getting all irritated. So again… relax.

But back to the original thought.

Why is it an opinion, when he states a matter of fact? Since when are facts opinions?

I am talking about in general about what an Alpha should be able to do… I am not dissing anyone… if one reads through the whole post one will see I am listening to opinions.

Calm down miner.

After you…

Very polite thankyou.

They’re bringing already part of T2 modules to alpha and battlecruiers and battleships.
I think that’s a huge huge improvement also the removal of racial restrictions (although it would make it look 4x less new people are joining the game lol)
I think it’s all about getting people into pvp max as possible inside their own category, let’s say for example it can fly a logi and a battle cruiser, but it can’t fly capitals etc, but not making you feel like you are limited in what you do, but you are not limited inside the category you are allowed to.
Than people can buy subscription ‘if’ they really like the game and want more/full of it.

Battleships or not, they’ll need even more core skills to fly them. So with them still being restricted to 5m skill points I’m not sure what kind of fit they’ll end up with. Even if they could fit it…

So to improve, they’ll still have to invest and sub.

I havent run the numbers, but its not much.
Basically just all the hulls you need for BS which are a pittance, and the other core skills are the same.

It’s not just about sitting in it…

They have to buy it, fit it and rig it to a decent(ish) level, I’m sure that isn’t going to happen with 5m skill points available…

I wonder how many genuine new players are going to go straight for a Mach or something, and then find they lose it in their first outing in it?

Sounds like a pretty common thing anyway. Lots of new players buy the coolest looking faction battleship

I think too many people expect too much for free.

I kinda like the idea of ally race skills opening up some skills and some pirate ships. But it’s is still a more free content.

I’m an alpha and I like for the most part where it where is, maybe open up the the deferent race frigs and cruisers to get a taste of the different races strengths and weaknesses. I just don’t wanna have to retrain all the core skills 4 times and fund 4 different characters.

I 100% agree, alphas, lets you jump into the pool, just not out into the deep end with the more experienced cool kids hang out.

I left Eve a few years back when my laptop died, and forgot about it. Then came along the alpha program, jumped back in and loving it.

Yes I am an alpha at the moment. I only play maybe 2 or 3 hours a week, when ol lady lets me. I plan to sub so as I have time to make it worth my time.

Meanwhile I far prefer scooting around with a dessie or cruiser. Sure I keep at least a BC minimum around for ratting/missioning, but the align time / speed / ease of replacement make zooming around with a lighter craft with a couple friends far more rewarding when you are poking things with a stick to what kind of reaction you can get.

That said the expansion of the freemium SP pool for those who have paid in the past will mean the alpha account can freely choose from my ship stockpile even when the sub is down. So I get to keep access to my launcher skills, my Caldari ships, can actually use my BC’s other than the Gnosis even when unpaid. And with T2 guns (maybe even T2 drones…) the efficiency will be far higher.

Might even be enough of a difference to take doing L4s from doable to actually profitable because you can do them fast enough.

That’s the point. You get a VERY extended trial to see how you like it. The point of alphas is not FREE2PLAY, it free to try for a extended time to decide to then pay for access to the full game.

In a frozen yogurt shop, they don’t give you a big tub to fill and try all the flavors, all they give you is a VERY tiny 1inch by 1inch cup to see what you want to get.

I am an alpha, but I don’t really have much time to play, only a few hours a week. But when I’m sure it’s worth my time, I’ll sub a month or two. Never bothered to plex my account, could probably afford to plex on just mining when I was a single man. But she says I have to go to bed like I was 8 and had school in the morning :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Bust saying that, the current alpha levels are perfect. That absolutely crazy giving alphas access all the way up to battleships. The alpha ecosystem is very balanced, the mining venture and limited industry and exploration and PvE can absolutely fund an alpha with less work than I would have imagined. How long would it take a mining venture or T1 exploration to pay for a battle ship.

I was with Eve for a year and enjoyed the Indy and mining and exploration. I

Considering that L4s are possible if horribly inefficient for current alpha and that you can outright BLITZ L3s with a properly fit alpha Gnosis… Also quite possible to do L4 distribution using nothing but an expanded T1 indy.

Alpha already can do 10m iskies an hour if you know what you are doing with it. The significant change here is that they’ll have better access to doing it easier. As it is, it was already possible to fund the acquisition of a battleship with ~15 hours of play once fitted for doing it in the current sandbox.

Complaining about how long it would take with a Venture or T1 explorer is the wrong way of looking at it. One is using a spoon on rock mining when you already could take a jackhammer out for gun mining and the other is purely reliant on RNG. Some people funded a full old plex within a couple weeks of alpha state release via being lucky and smart with exploration.

Well you will be getting a lot more options in the future from what CCP is saying. So enjoy the new content.

But you’re still getting the full experience, they’re not taking any of the tasteful ingredients out of the small cup tho :smirk:
