Thats why humanity is doomed.

Yeah, companies have been designing products to fail for a hundred years now, but it seems like like product quality really started to take a dip around the time of the 2009 financial crisis, and then never recovered. In fact, my brother is an engineer who used to do a lot of contract work, and I would do a lot of work for him as a cad designer. Anyway, one of the things we would used to do was go through companies’ product lines, and redesign them to be built cheaper. Of course, not everything we did resulted in a clear loss of quality. For example, I might have to figure out how to reduce the amount of wasted sheet metal when cutting out parts. Other changes included changing a design from using extruded metal to using bent sheet metal, in order to use the capabilities of a different factory (usually in China). My brother, however, did a lot of math to try to figure out things like minimum material thickness and maximum rivet spacing. Obviously, he wasn’t designing stuff to fail, but he was most certainly not designing things to last.

I am guessing that it gets back to Apple products and their design decisions.

Now think about CCP and when they have a product that allows pilots to hardly require undocking.

How do they change that could also be reasons for the price changes and how the direction is heading based on the keynotes. It was even mentioned about undocking, I was side tracked at the time but that pretty CCP Lady mentioned something on the lines of Some people don’t undock and that is a problem.

I don’t know how I feel about that line of thinking. Of course, more people in space is a good thing, but various game systems and organization management requirements mean that a lot of different players have to spend a lot of time docked up (i.e. station traders, industrialists, planetary industrialists, and people filling various leadership/administration roles). Moreover, that time spent in station can actually result in more players in space. For example, the poor bastards who manage SRP payouts have to stay docked up doing administrative work, but their efforts result in increased fleet participation, which ultimately puts more buts in space. And, of course, some players probably don’t mind. Some traders, for example, seem a hell of a lot more interested in engaging with the player driven economy than they are with the pew pew aspects of the game.

Meh. It’s probably not a terrible idea to create good content in space that can entice people to undock (and entice players to come back or try Eve for the first time), but I’m not so sure that they should be sweating the guys who stay docked up a lot (assuming, of course, they have a good reason to be docked, and aren’t staying docked because they’re unhappy with the state of the game).

Why I’ve never bought a new vehicle.

It’s a long video, but there was a particular part that reminded me of Eve players (video is linked to the particular part I wanted to share).

And, yes, he says some things that will likely ruffle some feathers (like saying that MMO’s should be made more alt friendly), but I think he brought up some interesting points.

Key point taken away from listening to that vod Shipwreck Jones shared is “if you do give people a good experience with the time you have with them then they will come back

It then mentions something that now can be clearly seen here what path Eve Online seems to be taking. That is the focus might be shifting toward keeping people around to grind out that new ingame currency that unlocks station skins and perhaps achievements.

Many might agree that the carrot on the stick approach could result in burn outs.
(Wasn’t exactly mentioned in that vod like that but it is a simple way of looking at what chasing rewards does to gameplay.)

ty i hated sounds less sand boxy

Am I… hearing this right? Their biggest content update at fanfest, you just have to trust us bro, it’ll totally be worth a 33% price increase is…

redoing the NPE again, a new docking animation thing, and faction warfare? Not that those dudebros didn’t deserve some love, but they’re a… a limited portion of the playerbase? Oh, and something about skill plans which they’d already partially addressed with shareable skill plans?

Congratulations… we’ve now reached a new low… mocking devs for their weight. Somebody @ Brisc Rubal and the community team, because this is valuable feedback.

Mockery earned is not a new low. It is simply expected response for horrible behavior, such as demanding the playerbase eat a 33% cost increase with a ‘Respected capsuleers’ and a ‘trust us bro, it’ll be worth it’ and then failing to deliver anything worth even the existing price of 15/month.

CCP has well earned plenty of mockery. I’m not interested in coddling CCP, holding their hand, giving them the benefit of the doubt or entertaining their wild and unachievable BS any longer.

To be fair. If CCP actually deliver everything they showed on the 12 month “road to 20th” roadmap, then it would a remarkable new achievement for CCP.

That it would, and I am hoping against knowing I should not hope for anything where CCP is concerned that they will prove me wrong.

Here’s to hoping, so I can be let down again later.

I imagine it is exotic dancers in stations for most eve players. Also something to make your blood circulate harder, something you would like to repeat often.

It’s always the super friendly carebears, you know… NOT the sociopath pvpers, who bring RL into it with wishing RL death, diseases and other nasty stuff or in this case shaming some CCP dev.

Its always the other side.

The core problem was not what they had. But how they presented it.

Keynotes should have been:

  • Devs on stage all wearing weird accessories.

  • The importance of NPE for vets new players to sustain the economy.

  • We aim to move away from multiboxing toward more single account content to justify higher account
prices. Basically, we want more content you can do with 1 account. But encourages interaction between you all.

  • Reveal Heraldry and ship accessories with several more slides and examples of content and emphasize the fact the ship addons will result in effectively hundreds of new ship model variations. And reasons to do content to get cool addons and stuff.

  • Apology for getting rorqs so wrong they almost killed the game. And the need for a rebalance. And the time of scarcity to bring balance back.

  • Tease an Angel Dread, Maybe a silhouette. just something to go along with the Age of the dreadnaught. Talk about structural changes and patch on Tuesday adjusting the bp costs. Announce Faction dread bp will have a small drop chance from faction cap spawns so more people can enjoy them. With faction dread prices aimed at 4x normal dread price. (10b ish in current rates).

  • New hangers/ trophy cabinet. New Engine effects.

  • Announce the new node system for content creation. Can be used to create events like NPC attacks on player infrastructure. Etc because why would the Serpentis let us live in space near them un harrassed for example.

  • Announce fleet war upgrades. New content for everyone. Now even vets in alliances can enter FW space and take part, Then the next day be back in null. FW will provide the next logical step for new players.

  • Announce story-driven expansions and content updates. Including the fact, that there is X number of new ships in the pipe to go for it. Give a totally theoretical story example and the theoretical reward it lead to in a slide show…

  • Announce the changes to learning, attributes and skill training

  • PI streamline with preloaded planet setups to remove 90% of hassle to help with material production for caps.

  • Tease Something huge for fanfest next year. (Jove) (Earth) (Full on Alien race) (Subreality we can drop in and out of with entirely different mechanics) (In hanger mini-games) (Cat ears)

See I’ve barely added anything to the actual content. Just explained it better. Emphasized features better and made vets understand how it is content for them

Nonsense, that’s still a terrible list of changes.

Game needs content, no matter how you present it, all they are doing is rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. We need a mass content expansion like Apocrypha as well as the unfucking of systems they’ve systematically butchered.

I don’t have Problem with re-balancing the Rorq, but I do have a problem with hitting every player over the head with nerfs when the problem is with a one ship.

Just Like the BRM was implemented very Broadly because Frat’s and Goon’s according to monthly data were killing it in there regions. The BRM did nothing to balance Null sec, in fact it made ppl quit.

If they wanted BRM to Balance they would of applied it to the toon and not the system.

Fanfest can be some up like this Twitch
