Kill Analyze

Hello,
I’m a beginner in Eve Online (mostly playing solo/PVE currently). I would like to better understand what happens to me last week. If some of you could explain me that: Retriever | Nickolevas | Killmail | zKillboard

I thought I was in a quite “secure” place (I know it’s never really the case from a PVP point of you), and have been destroyed in few seconds by a set of NPC I think, just after a warp to an asteroids belt (unable to wrap, etc…)

I just would like to be able to avoid this in the future, as much as possible.
As I already read, I think that I should avoid using the Retriever ship for mining, maybe to found some equipment in order never being unable to wrap, and look at the “number of ship destroyed during the last hour” in the map before any warp. But if you have additional advises…

Thank you!

Nickolevas.

Never use a retriever. You were killed by a triglavian. They had you pointed no doubt so you couldn’t warp. Retriever is slow to warp, plus you had zero defense on your ship.

You have an incorrect fitting and if you want to mine in highsec, you’d better join a Corp and learn from them.

What happen there is that there are these triglavian NPCs that roam the system where a wormhole that leads to their home region Pochven has opened . These wormholes open to systems that were close to those that existed in highsec before triglavians took them and now they form Pochven region. They are strong in terms of AI, DPS, ewar .
What you could have done there is make use of ECM drones to jamm the NPC that was pointing you or have warp core stabilizers fitted , since you don’t have positive standings with triglavians. Given your ships is extremely fragile and very slow to enter warp and that ECM drones are also RNG based , you chances to get away with would have been slim to begin with anyway.
What you can do is to get positive standings with triglavians , so that in the future they wont attack you , here’s a guide someone did recently:

Also you will have to be aware of diamond rats too , that appear specially when there is a FOB in the system where you mine. More info here:

Thanks a lot for your answers, that will help me a lot.
@Oriki_Ahvilen : really precise one, I really appreciate! :slight_smile:

Nickolevas.

No problem. Good luck out there !

Use a properly tanked procurer to prevent ganks. They can also withstand trig attacks, but you should probably just get positive standings with the trigs and be done with it.

Mining in a group is also a huge advantage. You can get boosts, don’t have to travel back and forth to station to drop off ore, have more eyes looking for danger, gain access to community knowledge, and have company. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t/can’t play solo if that’s how you like playing. But, going to have a rougher early on as you try to find your footing. There’s a reason why people say that playing Eve solo is playing Eve on hard mode.

Oh, and if you’re an introvert, one option is to join large groups. They make it easy to get lost in the crowd.

Some side notes about recommending Procurer , it is not triglavian proof and I’m not sure the light drone DPS would be enough to kill tackle for him to get out on time . With max skills he can get max. 148 DPS , but he’s a new player with very low skills and he’ll also probably get defanged in the process.

If you recommend him an omni fit , at least give him the right one with the more EHP:

[Procurer, omni]

Mining Laser Upgrade II
Damage Control II

Medium Shield Extender II
Multispectrum Shield Hardener II
Multispectrum Shield Hardener II
EM Shield Hardener II

Modulated Strip Miner II, Plagioclase Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II, Plagioclase Mining Crystal I

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Hobgoblin II x5
Mining Drone II x5

Plagioclase Mining Crystal I x5
Veldspar Mining Crystal I x10

As for an “anti-ganking” one:

[Procurer, “anti-gank”]

Mining Laser Upgrade II
Damage Control II

Medium Shield Extender II
Multispectrum Shield Hardener II
Kinetic Shield Hardener II
Thermal Shield Hardener II

Modulated Strip Miner II, Plagioclase Mining Crystal I
Modulated Strip Miner II, Plagioclase Mining Crystal I

Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I
Medium Core Defense Field Extender I

Hobgoblin II x5
Mining Drone II x5

Plagioclase Mining Crystal I x5
Veldspar Mining Crystal I x10

Also , t2 mining crystals don’t make sense for highsec mining, they are more skill intensive , expensive (for how much you earn mining highsec ore) and have a shorter lifespan.

@Nickolevas you can downgrade the fits corresponding to your skills with T1 modules and drones as you work your way up and upgrade.

As me and Jones already said, easiest and most practical is to get triglavian standings .
Find a rogue drone in Pochven space and kill it from 70-80 km away , they usually lurk around gates and planets . I used this with one of my alts and managed to kill 4 drones:

[Maulus, tri]

Damage Control I
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
AE-K Compact Drone Damage Amplifier

Phased Muon Scoped Sensor Dampener, Targeting Range Dampening Script
5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive
Medium Shield Extender I
Alumel-Wired Enduring Sensor Booster, Targeting Range Script

Drone Link Augmentor I

Thank a lot for all the detailed proposals (specially the list of equipment).
Regarding the Triglavian standings, I think it’s an interesting way. I will just have to “study” more deeply the detailed workflow to do that, because I have to confess that all the described steps seem sometimes hard for a newbie like me to understand (acronym, vocabulary, some currently unknown fight/game mechanisms, not my mother language, etc…).
And concerning some comments relating to the game in solo, I know that it reduces all the charm of Eve, but I know how it can be time consuming to do it actively, and not as a “ghost member” (played of >200 days on other MMO)

Solo mining even in highsec you use the Percucer or its bigger bother the Skiff.

No matter how safe you think you are, you aren’t, those two ships will give you a better chance of survival and some teeth if fitted right.

In larger fleets you can use other mining ships and focus more on mining amounts.

Solo you focus on survival, ether through escape, tanking or drone combat with the above two ships.
Yes those two ships can be fitted to kill pvp ships.
