Laptop for Eve Online

Hey all,

Old player coming back to the game after a year (and a new daughter) away from the game.

I’m looking at a few laptops to use to play Eve now that my old rig sadly bit the dust to pay for real world stuff. I’m been looking.around on eBay and have come across the below. I don’t pretend to be an expert but what level of in-game performance could I potential see. I usually play one or two clients at any given time.

I7-4710MQ (4 cores, 6MD Cache, 2014 model)
Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M
8GB RAM DDR3 1600
486GB SSD
17" screen

Now I know people will say ‘get a desktop’ etc, but at the current time I have no space to store one even if could convince the wife that a new wig was worth it! Will be playing at a table and when travelling so a laptop is ideal.

That’s basically my old notebook and it’s good enough.
I’ve used that to play EVE until only some weeks ago.

You can play one client just fine at medium to max settings, even two,
but you probably don’t want to do that. Maybe upgrade RAM to something faster,
or potentially add a second stick. The board likely is supporting dual channel (look it up)
and having two sticks gives a 10-20% performance boost.
