Not sure if this is an EVE issue, or a hardware/software issue, so thought I’d start here in my efforts to diagnose.
*System Info will be provided at the bottom.
For the past 2-3 weeks, I have started experiencing a long delay in certain aspects of the game. These include:
Starting the game from the EVE Launcher,
Undocking,
After jumping through jump gates,
Switching ships while docked.
I run the game on low settings, as I occasionally run two accounts at once, but it does this even when I have only one account on. Shader quality is off, which in turn, turns a number of other graphical options off too.
HWMonitor shows my GPU usage hits no more than ~40% usage, cpu usage has a high of ~ 50% and onboard memory usage peaks at ~70% usage.
Does anyone have any idea if there is anything I can do to counter this problem? It is very frustrating having to wait for the game to load in or wait for the freeze to end just so I can warp or click anything at all, especially in fleets.
So, I am scanning at the moment. The game suddenly feels completely stuck and probes needed 1 minute to start the actual scanning and are now scanning for over a minute already. Meanwhile, my command to approach and jump a gate was completely ignored.
Just in case anyone else experiences a similar issue, I just wanted to update this post before it is closed.
I raised a ticket with Support, who have been brilliant in helping me with this issue. They assisted me in using some tools to send them some data, recorded while I was experiencing the lag and freezing.
The solution was to delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ folders (be aware, doing this clears the cache and all in-game settings). I performed another fresh install of the game at the same time, to cover everything. Upon logging back in, the lag and issues I were having are completely resolved.
