Launcher fails to start - missing symbols after update

Wanted to start EVE, launcher updated itself and then it no longer starts. Missing symbols. Running Debian Sid.

./evelauncher: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLX_mesa.so.0: undefined symbol: xcb_dri3_get_supported_modifiers

So, we have failure to update things properly? I’ll attempt to re-install launcher now.

Googling this leads to reports of a variety of errors in a number of different Linux applications over the past few months. It looks as if there’s a bad library somewhere in GitHub, but I’m not technically competent to investigate it any further.

Depends on the launcher you’re using. The Windows-native launcher running under WINE together with the game should be working fine. If not then I’d blame Debian Sid for it. I’m assuming Sid is the Unstable branch.

If you’re using the Linux-native launcher then check which xcb library you’re actually using, because it’s been said to have its own xcb library and you may have to get rid of it.

Was happen today on a fresh installation from Ubuntu 18.10 and Linux Launcher.

Got it working now, with Whitehounds help - see https://forums.eveonline.com/t/eve-launcher-build-1385477-beta-release-for-linux/106968/146

My problem is that my launcher is starting, but not the game.
I have Linux 19.0 on my netbook Aspire 3830TG.
The launcher is starting. When I push the triangular button, it shows for one second the quadrangular and directly after this the triangular button. The game don´t start.
Shared cache and verify don´t help me. Some files will destroyed and new downloaded. But nothing changes.
What I can do?

Start by reading the log files. These will most likely tell you what went wrong or what is missing.
