Following this thread is downright dizzying.
Points Iāve noticed worth mentioning.
One war over time, dedicated takes a great deal of effort and patience on the part of the one prosecuting it. IF it yields any result whatsoever, that is going to be notable for all parties involved. The hunter, provided that his/her target corp isnāt going to just roll and dodge the war, has a great burden on their shoulders under the current system when it comes to finding any kind of target to apply their violence to. However, if they do manage to find engagements in those circumstances, their prey is going to adapt to try and overcome them. These are pretty rare tho, so kudos to Kane for finding himself some dedicated playmates. In this case of forever war, Iām sure by now that his attentions are no longer unwanted by his erstwhile victims so much as welcomed as opportunities to learn to be better at the game.
A hundred wars. This is the easy road, but it also limits HOW you engage your war. You canāt be picky anymore, you canāt use locates because thereās LITERALLY over a thousand names to check off the list, and even with a couple dozen guys and their two alts running locates you arenāt gonna find crap in space. So, you camp the pipes, the hubs and the borders between empires in hopes of something viable coming your way. Once again, this requires patience⦠but not so much on the effort side of things. This has become the most popular way to engage war anymore. To be fair, it always was popular before, because⦠effort. The downside to this is that you donāt get to pick your targets, you have to engage whatever you can out of opportunity, or you wont get anything at all.
Okay. Then there are structure wars. Defend it, unanchor it if you can, or write it off. Donāt just hang out in the area like nothing is happening and hope they wont be arsed to come smash it and your droogs into space dust. Thatās just stupid. EVE isnāt supposed to reward stupid. You plant your flag and draw a circle in the sand and call it yours, donāt be daft enough to expect that to go unchallenged. If theyāre coming for you and they know where you live, freaking move.
There is NO good reason to die to wardec under the current mechanics unless it is valiantly in defense of what is yours. If so, kudos to you, you stood up and fought back. But if you get popped unawares under war then you get what you deserve and them who did that to you get what they earned from your smoking wreck.
Persecute or prosecute a war, makes no difference to me.
Never once, on any of my toons, has a wardec impaired me.
I know how to work around a wardec, and never lost a ship or any inordinate effort to avoid/reconcile a war. Its no skin off my nose.
Have fun with your debates.
As far as I can see, none of your proposals will amount to anything.
Whats even funnier, is your dialogue is filled with trolls sabotaging every effort you make, and you dont even see that.
What am I?
Oh yes
Iām the one that throws facts at ignorant people.
Those ignorant people will usually accept the facts, but then there are those (like you) that keep rejecting because those facts donāt fit in with your reality.
Given the level of discourse/participants both here and in the dedicated Discord, I have zero faith in any of this or that leading to a change to wardecs.
And on a mildly related topic, I have always been fond of the idea of an aggressor being able to set conditions for surrender when it comes to war. āIf you wish us to stop, then pay us XXā or āCede X structure to us to end the warā.
Perhaps even a treaty system would be a decent addition to the war mechanic. Iām not sure that CCP wouldnāt bollix it up to hell and back, but it is worth considering. I find the mechanics of diplomacy to be woefully underdeveloped in a universe that revolves around conflict.
That said, I still believe that there should be a means to pursue a personal vendetta against a singular character with a singular character regardless of corporate affiliation⦠but I see manifold ways in which this could be exploited to the point of being considered āgriefingā under the terms and conditions.
Well⦠first off⦠you jumped on my post today, not the other way around.
I was responding to Ima_Wreckyou when you took half a sentence of mine and started salvoshing it.
GL with your proposal it took you years to produce, that doesnt work and has gotten no traction, in a community of others that is trolling/laughing at you.
You really dont see it, do you.
You think Iām the bad guy., yet Ive always been for mercs.
Man, they are all around you already, with veiled antipathy, long before I arrived.
Deal with them now.
