Let's talk about Bombers Bar

They exist, but they’re about as commonly seen as unicorns. For much the same reason. Damn things got hunted into extinction

Same mistake. There aren’t many even fights. The fights however are all fair. Just because someone was smarter than you, better than you, or brought more numbers, doesn’t make it unfair. You have the same chance to do the same thing. It’s only when you suck at EVE, when you fail to come prepared that you think it was unfair.

If EVE wasn’t fair then you wouldn’t be playing it.

I believe not understanding the concept of fairness must feel unfair to you. Or is it because somebody knows something and only you didn’t?

A lot of young people secretly believe it’s only fair if they keep winning a few times more often than others. That’s not even wrong.

Still, EVE is full of fairness and space ships.

You misunderstand. There is no such thing as a fair fight, an even fight, or an uneven fight. Merely “a fight” and nothing more or less. Calling anything even, fair, or unfair is irrelevant.

they would’ve gotten another 20bil, but I left early xD

No, you misunderstand. I’m saying an even fight is a fight with an even number of players. Counting numbers is fairly easy. Anyone can count, unless it’s an ongoing fight with players coming and going, where a count is harder to establish of course. My point however is that one can count a number and from there conclude to a fight as being even or uneven. Only one cannot conclude fairness from it in the case of a game, which was designed to include fights with uneven numbers.

PS: And I do understand what you’re saying.

Sounds like Bomber’s Bar needs to come into High Sec and do some Diaperdunking.

A fair fight in Eve? Never seen that, and I am playing for some time now.

But then we are not playing this game because of fair fights, but because of fair opportunities. If a group of ships approach and I have a working intel, I have enough time to decide whether or not I want to fight them or dock. The attackers don’t have intel, but they have the moment of surprise. This is the basic balance of 0-sec.

However as intel became better that became stagnant after a while, because smaller groups either met no one or were destroyed by an overwhelming force. So CCP came up with the idea of wormholes (and the small gang patch), so people can occasionally randomly fall out of the skies and attack someone with the surprise moment completely on their side. While this puts the defender at an unfair disadvantage it was balanced because for once there were not many people in those WHs and for second you had no way to decide where you’d land, so it was as random for the attacker as for the defender.

Then people optimized those WHs for winning, and came up with fleets like Bombers Bar, that attack with overwhelming numbers and in such a short time-span that no one even has the chance to form a defense fleet before they are gone again. This alone is already problem, because what was supposed to give content to small roaming gangs had been twisted into a free kill machinery.

On top of that the WH re-roll mechanic allows the attacker to freely choose where they want to attack simply be re-rolling the WH whenever the enemy might be too strong. So now the attacker not only has the advantage of surprise, they also have the advantage of numbers and the advantages of choosing where to attack, while the defender has zero advantages.

You can hardly tell people to form smaller attacking fleets nor can you force the defenders to have more people in their corp. Also reducing the WH mass to a point where only like 5 bombers fit through is not an option either. So that leaves two ways to fix this imbalance:

  1. You get a broadcast if a new WH opens in your system.
Works, but then the game becomes stagnant again.

  2. Rerolling a WH is limited.
Doesn’t solve the free-kill part, but then it doesn’t happen too often, so the problem is contained.

  1. Look at your probe scanner window

  2. Yeah, let’s not start breaking wormhole-gameplay over your inability to watch probe scanner and D-scan.

Or a third way: don’t wait until an attacker appears to form a defense fleet. Be in a defense fleet at all times, so that as soon as the first bomber decloaks the defense fleet opens fire and wipes them out.

The problem here is not bombers appearing out of nowhere, it’s lazy and/or stupid carebears who feel entitled to mindless risk-free farming in nullsec. It isn’t “fair” if there’s any way for them to die, which means AFK cloaking, WH attacks, etc, need to be removed so they have plenty of time to dock up any time a threat exists. If you get rid of the idea that farmers are entitled to sit semi-AFK all alone in dangerous space and maximize their ISK/hour without any consequences then WH attacks are not an issue. You are one of the strong targets they can’t engage, so they go kill some sad failure of an alliance instead.

Removed. Missed that this is the 70th post already, thus there really is no point in responding to the initial post.

No such thing. While theoretically everyone has the same opportunities, most people are not capable of realizing, or even noticing them. The only problem here is you and your attitude. If they decided to take away your space, simply because they are stronger and you are … well … weak, would you complain as well?

You are not entitled to your space.

‘The fact however that those 60 people can appear anywhere in a moment’s notice is what is the problem here.’ Really, The Fact that there are ‘Stealth’ bombers is the issue. Maybe we should put those 6’ high orange flags on them, like kids bicycles. You fly Rorquals (a 2.5 Billion isk Hull). I fly Stealth Bombers ( 36 Million isk Hull). And you think I am having too much fun at your expense, and my ship should be handicapped (More than being a paper spaceplane w/ 3 torp launchers) because I am somehow over entitiled? If you cannot afford me shooting it, don’t undock it. Just because you can throw isk at things doesn’t mean you should not have to protect your own assets (or lose them).

Just my .02 isk, and wanted to tell you your tears are appreciated.

really eve is unfair? that’s what this thread is coming too?

a group of 30-60 people put in the time and energy to get organized group up and hunt you down and its some how unfair that 1-15 people faffing about in rorqs and ratting carriers die?

i mean FFS those ships are not exactly intended for groups of 1-15 don’t expect to be able to defend them in groups that small unless you know what you’re doing.

don’t you all have D-scan? if you’re paying attention you can indeed jump to an E-cyno before even a bomber can point you if he decloaked right next to you. unless ofc you were being a bit greedy and sieged your rorq

“there is no way to actually counter this” how about keep your eyes open for the initial tackle. cus if you dodge that, you dodge the entire drop.

also these types of fleets require huge amounts of logistics and often they spend entire evenings being blueballed by empty regions. make and alt and see for yourself, maybe you’ll have a bit of fun as well

Well technically I am still reading this, but most people just post random BS instead of actually providing arguments or ideas. Like people that don’t even care to read my initial post and just post random QQ answers like:

The only problem here is you and your attitude. If they decided to take away your space, simply because they are stronger and you are … well … weak, would you complain as well?

You are not entitled to your space.

Oh wait… that was your post, nvm.

Sure, whatever you say.

Did your whining here change anything about your situation?

Yes it actually did.

Cool!

What changed? Honestly curious!

From his employment history I’d say he got kicked from his former corp and is now in one of the biggest RMTer / botter alliances in the game (Kids with Guns Alliance).
I think that makes it abundantly clear what his actual agenda is.
