So a Vexor can do it and shoot rats at the same time.
Only if you want to do the gallente sites âŚ
not really, if youâre using mining drones youâre not really shooting anything with some unbonused VNI pea shooters. if youâre using a regular vexor then your drones will be slow.
since thereâs no need to shoot the drones⌠why would you even bother wasting the isk on ammo?
I said Vexor not Vexor Navy Issue. Huge difference. One has a gun bonus, the other one does not.
yes - i addressed that.
one has a gun bonus with a small number of guns and significantly slower drones meaning youâre going to be doing sites slower just so you can waste even more isk on ammo as well as time.
The only thing is that you are wasting time that way. The level 1 and 2 roids only need a 45% mining laser II cycle to pop a roid.
funfact: all of the asteroids are like that, even in higher level sites. also, you canât get a cruiser in a level 1 or 2 site anyway.
the advantage of the VNI is a 50km+ mining range, no capacitor dependency, not having to watch timers to short cycle asteroids (the max weâve observed is 119m3 asteroid - but iâm open to proof there are bigger ones) as the biggest ones weâve found are around the same mining yield as a t2 mining drone, and a ship that doesnât travel slower than a slug.
45% of a cycle is a little over 4 asteroids in 60 seconds, vs 5 asteroids per 60 seconds from a flight of drones. you can get drones going pretty fast, all without depending on capacitor like putting an MWD on your mining ship.
The question is, how will the NPCs react to mining drones.
if itâs the same way they react to combat drones⌠then they donât.
the AI seems to completely ignore light drones (which i assume mining drones are, as theyâre 5m3 like lights)
That is good news then.
Tried 1-3 on Sisi
In some sites i got a failer because on of the Orca was stucked when trying to warp away. I consider to change the mechanics, that site ist comleted anyway when ore is stored and not when Orca is gone.
Nice tought⌠hisec gankers could disturb the expedition members by bumping the Orcas.
considering they intended the sites to use them yes⌠its poor design
First Impressions: Resource Wars is a splendid addition to EVE Online. It seems to do EXACTLY what is needed.
Iâm a 2007 capsuleer flying a t1, poorly fit venture. After a try or two I couldnât quite finish a Limited (level 1) site until I played along w/ another venturist trying the same.
We failed on the next try but discussed a few things in the chat channel that pops up and succeeded on the third site.
We did what youâre never supposed to do in EVE, decided to trust one another, fleet up and ship to Prospects for a Minor (Lvl 2) site. Succeeded without difficulty and then we broke another New Eden taboo.
We flew, fleeted up through low sec to a pocket of Minors and completed them. Then we exchanged contacts, added standings and will probably fly bigger, riskier stuff next time.
All of this on my first Resource Wars encounter. Over about an hour or so.
This is the rapid but moderately challenging gameplay/content that can be done spontaneously but works most effectively by partnering with the people you meet along the way.
It breaks down all the social and cultural taboos that New Eden traditionally teaches - climbing learning cliffs, not speaking to strangers and never Fleeting up through low sec with people you donât know well.
Great job CCP. Nicely done
Done 4 limited and 4 minors with 3x ventures. upgrading to 3x procurers for standards now that Iâm at 3.13 standings. Guess Iâll park each proc near one of the three orcas and hope I donât need prop mod. Gonna use overdrive injector for a bit faster slowboating.
Very sad to hear we canât use Orcas in L5s and no Porps in any level. Very sad indeed. ;_;
iâm soloing l1 sites and getting 2/3 of the bonus rewards. hell, i feel bad for the guy i ârobbedâ of a payout. i mined all 10k ore before he deposited any.
it isnât challenging.
level 2 is near impossible solo in caldari space as you just end up perma jammed. rng isnât a challenge.
Dave, thatâs good to know. I suspect youâre a well trained capsuleer with a lot of SP and experience. If you find L1s no challenge at all but also find L2s not solo-able, then I would suggest that is further proof that this is a well designed on-ramp to more social, cooperative and iterative gameplay that accelerates new players toward Fleets-> Corporations->>PvP.
Right?
iâm mining in a venture - it requires and utilises very little SP and mining isnât hard. you target an asteroid and press f1. i have no idea how much âexperienceâ you need to be âgoodâ at such an afk activity.
the simple fact is that these are not hard sites.
being unable to complete them because you canât target anything doesnât encourage cooperative gameplay - it encourages leeching. if you physically canât contribute because youâre physically unable to participate due to being unable to lock targets that also excludes you from getting a reward. besides, this only applies to caldari sites because of how jams work. itâd be completely irrelevant to other factions where youâd be able to mine freely.
itâs not good anything, itâs piss poor design.
iâm aware these sites arenât meant to be soloâd but equally the optimal way to complete them is to have a site full of miners. none of this requires co-operation. it just requires people to play solo and ignore each other while on the same grid. making people sit next to each other while soloing =/= social interaction and/or cooperation.
the sum total of my social interaction last night when i tried them was replying to some one who thought we had to kill the rats by reminding them that we donât - itâs a mining site and by bringing a combat ship heâs just slowing us down by taking up a spot a miner couldâve had⌠and then soloing l2s because nobody warped in in the 10 mins i was in the site being perma jammed, so i gave up and went back to soloing level 1 sites since i was completing them faster than people were warping in to âhelpâ me.
might I suggest training Mindfullness, Compassionate Peace and Breathing to LVL 3
I tried one of the L1 sites. It was easily doable in a venture tanked to fit the pirate damage pattern.
I completed the site with 59s left. It was fun.
Then I looked at the LP store.
Havenât touched RW since.
