Hi I’m thinking of going back to Linux and wanted to get a heads up how EVE runs with Mint 20 and Wine these days. Last time I ran Linux I remember it being pretty good with Wine, and that support had got better. I’m also using a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. Will I have any issues with drivers? Thanks in advance.
I am running Eve on a Kubuntu 20.04, which shares a common base with Mint 20.
The hardware is: Core i5-3450, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050Ti - so nothing spectacular but with the same graphics card as you have.
Eve installs fine with the stock Nvidia driver (version 450), Wine 5.0 from the distribution (you need to add in MScorefonts as I recall) and DXVK from the distribution (it does the Directx11 to Vulkan translation - but remember to enable it).
I’m getting 40-60fps at 1920x1080 all settings at maximum - I cap out at 60fps because of the monitor refresh rate. That’s with DirectX11 enabled. And very pretty it is too!
