Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread - Part Deux!

You could have kept it blacked out, and then implemented those observatories.

As an added equivalence, you could have even made Observatories counteract the pirate iHub upgrades. Safer system because of instant intel = less bounties/anoms to run.

Instead this just feels like backpedaling and saying “whoops” :frowning:

This is an interesting idea.

Wormholes make the most money and you can roll holes if you dont like the neighbours.

Gate guns and no bubbles? Go away, ill keep my small gangs in null where there is no such nonsense.
You can’t have seen much of null during your year there if you really think nullsec people don’t solo or small gang

Never said I hated null sec. No, I dont live in null sec. I did years ago and it was boring as hell.

so why are complaining about others talking about changes that affected them? so you just here to whine about others complainting?

Wormholes already have “blackout” since their inception. We dont hear them complaining. CCP made it so WH now have more connections unless I am mistaken.

I never said I dont think people in nullsec dont solo or small gang. I myself have done solo/small gang in null. Can we lie a little bit more about what I said and didnt say because I feel like making some popcorn.

Because everyone interested in this gameplay moved there at their own will.

“Those of you in Null really need to pvp in low sec solo/small gang.” is what you said. Why would i ever go to low sec for that?

I make no apologies for being sad that CCP have chickened out and brought back local to Null sec. I use real money to pay for my pvp character because I want to pvp not be a miner. I’m now thinking of how I make my protest - will look at ways avoid using real money so it hurts ccp and also - flatly refuse to use my time and ships to save a miner in my alliance when they are attacked - if my alliance want that service - or the miners do they can pay me isk for my time - including full srp when my ship is destroyed . I’m certainly not going to be subsidising miners to make game money so they can prance around in their big capital ships like peacocks.

The Nullsec Blackout was one of the greatest things that ever happened to EVE, and I very much would like to see it come back, although if the “lessons learned” could be applied in other ways to reap the same benefits, I would not object to this either.

What I liked about the blackout (not commenting on other things such as Trig attacks):

  • Helped cut back botting immensely
  • Lowered barrier to entry for players (esp. newbies and solo players) entering and operating in nullsec. How? Because they wouldn’t be immediately hunted down by pilots already present if those pilots aren’t D-Scanning and Combat Probing. Also: gate campers would have to be vigilant (ie. not semi-AFKing and not benefitting as much from instalock as they would in empire space) since they’d have no prior notice if someone entered system.
  • Posed a challenge for both attackers and defenders with regards to territorial conquest given the need to actively engage in D-scanning and Combat Probing for reconnaissance

If the nullsec blackout won’t come back for all of nullsec, perhaps it could come back for some of nullsec by breaking nullsec down into upper nullsec and lower nullsec, where only lower nullsec is blacked out. Just like empire space is broken down into hisec 1.0 - .5 and lowsec .4 - .1, nullsec could be broken down upper nullsec 0.0 through -.5 and lower nullsec -.6 through -1.0.

Another way the blackout could come back: Just like there might be system wide cyno jammers in effect, there could be a system-wide blackout mechanism.

I just resubbed for 12 months because CCP/PA made Mark_Marconi whine that many salty tears.

I also said I was bored in Null. Being under a super umbrella in null where you had to go 40 jumps to get outside of the blue umbrella to get a fight was what it was like when I was there. Not from from a pvper’s standpoint. From everything I’ve seen and heard alliance leaders themselves say it is still the same way.

Perhaps you are a roving band of pvpers. If this is true then you wouldnt need to come back to low as your already doing what I suggest only in a different area. Also if true, you wouldnt be complaining about blackout because from the hunters perspective, its a huge advantage.

I’m curious about what you have to say about keeping local blackout but having people show up in Constellation chat instead as the replacement.

Another very good idea. I like it.

I think my phone is finding God.

Finally…this is the best decision that ccp have done since 2013…and the only one

exactly so why wouldn’t i complain?
Just take a T3C and get free kills gets boring SOFAST i litterally can’t believe the supposed nothing-but-pvp-people are still standing here complaining about risk free ratting after this.
I wish there was more actual elite players like Tuskers who allways give good fights and don’t complain about loosing a gang.

Your proposed Constellation chat just gives away the presence even eariler, giving the rorquals more time to pull drones than is needed and potential counter hunters a heads up to get bubbles in place.
I don’t think it would do any good.

Do you even pvp?

Carebears flagging the people who want blackout to stay, the game is supposed to be challenging not “here’s your participation trophy”

We need to weed out weakness…

and who will build the ship you crash in pvp ?

NPCs - he’s migrating to Singularity

Tuskers, if they are the same Tuskers I tussled with in MH, are a good crew of pvpers. I like them.

If by T3C you mean Proteus Cyno, those have been done away with, but I do get your point on the BLOPS/Capital ganks. It is boring as hell for guys like us. Though the fun part for guys like us is making plans to go after those types.

The constellation chat idea may indeed be a bad one for those reasons you stated. I’m really liking the idea of a poster above who said to make null into high null and low null, where low null is blackout with the obvious better rewards.
