Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread - Part Deux!

Oh come now, you know that doesn’t count. You can’t be mean to goons. It’s not like they’re people. It’s like saying you can be mean to moss or flatworms or something.

Seriously though, I’m honestly curious as to who you’re talking about. I have a suspicion this is an artifact of the lens you’re looking through.

I’m talking about folks I and others have encountered in null, low, and highsec. God knows a fair chunk of the wardec corps qualify, though at least that’s been curbed a little by CCP’s partial fix. Or people who go ganking newbies, then crowing about it on reddit. Folks who’ve responded to ‘can you tell me what I could have done better?’ with ‘get rekt, nerd’. Or actively trolling the newbie help channels. Generally, they’re not people I’ve considered worth remembering their names when I hear about them.

But it might be the lens I’m looking through, sure. Again, though, I don’t mean the ‘goon’ lens. You know full well that I have a generally dim view of humanity, and that might be coloring my perceptions on this one.

Listen to Mr Rogers. Look for the Helpers.

You’ll see what you’re looking for in this regard, in Eve and other MMOs. Of course you’ll see all the wankstains, but you know full well that those mostly get shunned and disliked by their own as well.

Like I said: five, ten years ago? Yeah, I’d agree with that. These days? Not so much.

True. Had they listened - they would have dealt with free, instant, perfect local intel years ago…

Until I see your characters biomassed, I call bullshitski

I think that is the happiest I’ve been after reading a post since this whole shitstorm started.

Well said and spot on. The one time I got hot-dropped, while I did “reeee!” for a minute, one of the dudes actually convo’d me and told me how to fit the apoc I was using better for PvE while making it a harder target for PvP. And the whole ‘how to stay aligned’ video. Dude even spotted me the money to refit the ship.

And this was TEST back when they acted like retards in local. Not sure if that still holds up or not :stuck_out_tongue:

Won’t forget it though, and haven’t lost anything like that in a hotdrop since.

He did, or does now; you don’t seem to realize: the risks have changed.

HTFU.

Let me see if I get this straight…

Cave man hits rock with rock. (ok, laser) Bigger cave man comes and hits smaller caveman with rock. (ok, laser) Smaller caveman dies from falling rock.

Advice to smaller cavemen…

Stay out of falling rock zone!

That being said,

I still want to know who CCP is hunting with all of this? After reading “most” of this, I can’t tell if their after the bots or Goons ability to break the game?

CCP’s continued inability to anticipate the Goons ability to break the game is what worries me most. I still think Goons are a bigger threat to the game than bots, but what do I know…

I was already thinking about taking a break. This is pushing me towards giving away my stuff to my favorite content creators and biomassing 300m sp in characters…

Nothing has changed since you posted that ‘cave man hits rock with rock’ nonsense in the last thread, either.

CCP isn’t hunting us with this. This doesn’t hunt anyone. Not even the bots. As for anticipating… we tell them what we’re going to do with their changes. They don’t listen. I get that you’re butthurt that people who are more successful than you are exist, but we’re not breaking anything. We’re just using the systems CCP puts in place, in the ways we openly tell them we’re going to.

Survey’s flawed, it doesn’t allow for mixed playstyles.

Like any survey it’s geared towards generating the responses that are favorable.

Hmmm… I think you missed my point. My question is why do they not listen to you?

Edit; sry, I just like the caveman mentality of miners…

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because they’ve been sure they know better. Hopefully, repeatedly being proven wrong by us will eventually sink in.

I have FAR more faith in you guys to adapt faster. But that’s still my question? How far does it go before you win?

Edit; bots aside

Declaring victory is a path to defeat.

Me thinks you might have already won without even realizing it? (and I doubt that) Even after the blackout is over, if it even ends. CCP’s constant “reaction” to Goons is what I pay attn to, hence my slow slide into obscurity.

It’s still what I miss most about this game. Sticking my foot out and tripping you guys up! No animosity, no hard feelings. Just hard targets and hard fighting!
