Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread - Part Deux!

There’s no reason not to use the Industrial Core with the Mining Drone IIs.

And 5 billion reasons not to use the expensive things that die to 3 bombs.

They haven’t. Nullsec’s doing fine.

I am not going to repost what other people have posted about the current status of null sec. Check the posts before…

There are some anoms/moonfields where the ore has gotten so spread out, Rorq friends of mine just decycle and burn around or warp off pings or… hell, change back to Orca in some cases, because the distances from an immobile Rorq have gotten so great for their drones to travel.

But yeah, the rigs and Drone Nav Comps do help. Can put those on Hulks and Orcas in cases where tank isn’t required, also.

You don’t have to. I live here.

Yep, and they’ll still do that. But the Mining Drone IIs move faster than the Excavators anyway.

I subbed 2 accounts for the Blackout after about 3 months of inactivity, had fun 1st day then Unsubbed them 3 days later , cos null is literally empty now ( not counting Esoteria and Delve).

Not in all, but in many posts shows a lack of objectivity.

Ask yourself the question: What is EVE or what makes EVE special?

In short: The Sandbox. In this sandbox everyone can do what they like and they want to do.
Everyone has different interests and motivation and this is reflected in the playing style. So there are miners, industrialists, PvP players etc. The fact that all playing styles are dependent on each other in a kind of “cycle of life” is important and decisive for EVE.

That now an “event” is coming that promotes fun for a one group of players is perfectly ok. However, the fact that this event significantly limits the enjoyment of other game styles is a problem and in some way destroys the core of EVE.

Can you explain a bit more in specifics which parts of these “other game styles” is hindered by the Blackout? As far as I can tell, a Rorqual is still able to mine just as much as before, a VNI is able to rat just as effectively as before, and an Explorer can run Data and Relic sites just as well as before the Blackout.

Is there some part of the game mechanic that has been changed that I’m overlooking from this Blackout?

You know if local is integral to your game, you can still play eve in low sec. you also get the benefit of no bubbles.

The way i experience the Blackout so far , is not good for me. Its too PVP oriented, and the only ones are benefited from, is the big Corporations and Alliances. Any other activity like mining or pve without belonging to a big enough corporation or alliance so to have accounts being cloaked allover the place so to know who is coming, is a no-no for the small ones.
It feels like its forcing the little ones to join the big ones so to do either casual gaming. I think if you wanted more pvp, you could do something about the carriers and the dreadnoughts that spawn easily like mushrooms even when a small team of pvpers appear.
And PVP wise i think you need more content and make it worth for someone to undock. give motivation so even a solo player want to go out and shoot things., not making everyone blind and starting having docked parties for the ones not belonging to big Alliances.

same shite different day, when has it been any different, blackout has nothing to do with how many people you have at your disposal to keep the intel channels flowing with info.

we’ve all had to step our game up, rise to it! :upside_down_face:

Whatever opinion you might have about the Blackout, it at least solved one big Problem from the past: the AFK cloaker preventing any activity in a whole System

Of course, that’s still work. However, the risk for Subcap pilots is out of proportion to the yield.

Another point is that an event is started here for the enjoyment of ONE group of players, but the fun of many other playing styles suffers. This can also be seen in the numbers visible on Dotlan and in the forum. That one group is favoured and several others are restricted seems disproportionate, disadvantageous and prevents people from doing what is actually possible: Doing what they want to do and this is what made Eve great before rhis Event (don’t forget the first paragraph).

The AFK cloaker was never really an issue.
