Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

I see a lot of people claiming they’re unsubbing because of the game environment. Well too bad, undocking in Eve is consenting to interact with the game environment, both PvP and PvE.

With all of these unsubs who is going to be left for the super umbrella?

Enquirering minds and all that…

So you are telling me that clicking the D-Scan button every second is gameplay?

I’m not worried about the Rorq at all. I even dare you to kill it.

What bugs me is that I have 5 excavs that cost more than your wallet combined and you come with a combat destroyer and boosh them away even though i saw you landing and recalled them ?

How is this new local giving me any chance if i miss 1 D-scan and only recall when I hear you landing(because SOUND is available in EVE (i know you didn’t know that ))?Some systems are quite small and 1 missed D-scan and you are already on top of me. And don;t tell me git gud because mining for 9 hours on my single Rorq clicking D-scan every second is NOT the way this game is supposed to be played at all…

To all the people crying “HTFU”, here’s how it looks from a small independent null sov alliance perspective:

I never did input broadcasting myself, but I understand that when it was removed, it did invalidate a fair bit of playstyles, and made accounts specialized for those playstyles worthless. I am not judging this change, just stating a fact that there were accounts specialized for that playstyle, sometimes even paid, not plexed, and that after that change they were no longer viable.

The same is happening now. All accounts that were used for krabbing in anything less than a super anywhere outside supercap umbrellas are being made useless.

And if it so happens you do not have accounts which are good for much else, meaning you can’t sustain your structures (which got outrageous fuel bills for a small no-spodbrain entity, mind you) anymore, we have three options of HTFUing.

  1. Move to hisec and weather the storm there, hoping the game changes again (unlikely, thus probably a bad decision)
  2. Move to bloc, get into rorqs, go full spodbrain under supercap umbrella (we like blocs no more than you do, or we’d already be in one, but if THAT is what you want for eve…)
  3. Unsubscribe and watch the shitstorm from alpha acc (between being forced into hisec or being forced into bloc, this seems like a more reasonable solution).

Obviously I’m taking action #3 as the most reasonable HTFU course.

I’ll be resubbing because of this.

as a true solo roamer, not sure if this is good or bad. Same mech as WH, the difference being of course more ppl and megacorps in NS.

Not sure my lost intel is worth their lost intel. All they know is I’m around somewhere-- big deal.
Conversely, Ill not know how many dudes may undock or drop on me (outside of dscan range) if I chose to engage.

Im positive nothing is done in this game with solo’ers in mind, but there is the 2 pence.

If I wanted to live in a WH id move their -IM dropping both my accounts immediatly.

Amusingly I have to slam that botton constantly…in low.

Well, I unsubscribe with four accounts until this change is reversed. Even on the part of Pvp it will be very difficult to find anyone in the already empty null secs. Look at the drone region, Outer Ring, Scalding Pass, Cloud Ring and etc. This part of space is already dead, you need to make 20 jumps to find someone, now also poke D-scan in the systems in 60 AU. ■■■■■■■■!

Assuming everything else is going to stay the same. If CCP is willing to ax local I’m pretty optimistic that they’ll finally address supercap balance too. In fact there’s no way around it. Even large scale sov warfare is broken now that titan count is all that matters.

You can drop combat probes and do a scan of the entire system, takes about 10 seconds while you’re in warp to the next gate.

just cause you chose to live in a wormhole or low sec doesn’t mean ever one else wants that remember there different play styles. i chose null cause there was a local but to force your play style on anyone is wrong

Not at all, if you noobs need a crutch, your CCP daddies will give it to you. Gotta keep the game playable for little kids.

nice job, now i have to roam only with combat probe, how many ships can fit it? solo roam dead

Your playstyle sucks, and CCP appears tired of catering to it.

Roaming in general was dead. Fly 20 jumps to find someone who immediately warps to a citadel when you appear in local.

You do know the map shows active pilots in space still?

What most nullsec Krabs do not get
-> Less people krabbing less stuff available
-> Higher prices for stuff

Result:
You will spend less time krabbing but get more ISK/h although with a higher risk. The most important thing is less time used for PvE, you can do other things then.

Prediction:
Just watch Jita market, first Deadspace stuff (because escalation numbers from anomalies will tune down) prices will explode. Then the not so rare stuff will follow, look out for mineral prices.

So who is really f******:
All afk Krabs and to an extent bots. Why bots too, because WHs can now be used to catch bots.

This is the best thing CCP did in a long time.
