Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

why’d you break character? what happened to “running out of nano fluid” that keeps the communication channels open etc. and just leaving it at that. such a blatant diversion from the mechanic that draws people in to the lore!

Yep, there’s always intended and un-intended effects with changes, so we’ll see.

CCP mentioned something about a structure that can minipulate intel I have a feeling it might have a few AU radius around it that decloaks things.

Could be interesting they are cloaked while scouting but you will see them on d-scan before they land.

Until this actually exists we have to work within what we have. If their intention is to add tools to deal with these changes maybe those should be deployed at the same time as the changes so players can use them.

Top crabs?

There is a reason its called a test thou :], the data CCP gathers will help them rework game balance around no null local to make it playable and enjoyable from all sides, but if everyone unsubs and doesn’t play ccp doesn’t have much data to work with so they are shooting themselves in the foot by leaving :/.

The sound of tackle and damage not enough for you?

I believe the point was, ccp gets paid as soon as the plex is generated, not after it been listed on the market.

If you are in a rented system and don’t have someone guarding/observing the gates 24/7, you literally can’t undock as a miner - because you can’t tell if there are already 30+ cloaked campers in your system, just waiting for your orca/hulk.

I don’t know how much of the “interactive” “fun” you are going to have in a non-pvp ship, getting shot to pieces without any chance of defending yourself.

So the prices for minerals/goods will skyrocket… which could be good… but it kinda sux that you literally can’t pilot anything bigger than a mining frigate… except a mining-operation is heavily guarded by multiple corp-members… which will push the prices again, because of the needed effort.

And this can only be done by bigger corps… which means a single hunter will have zero chances of getting a kill.

And because of this i don’t get the excitement of a few dedicated hunters because their “solo-time” is pretty much over if these changes persist.

Did i get something wrong?

Uhhh think about this for a remote second. Who do you think brings in highend products for lowsec-empire players to work with and produce with. Yup that’s nullsec. Good luck.

The data they have is people unsubscribed when they change happened. It is called voting with their wallet. Player shouldn’t stay subscribed and stay docked to show their displeasure with CCP.

Low sec guys that live next to a npc nullsec do it themselves :].

People have been voting with their wallet by unsubbing for the past 3 years with these citadel changes making null super safe.

Man, I went through a LOT of posts before I got to this one. This is not a “game-breaking” change, though it may be an unwelcome one for many. With this change, I wish they would give better insurance on the Astero because people are gonna need it. Plat payout is something like 300-400k for a ~65M isk ship, wtf?! Time to break out the T1 hoop-d’s for exploration fellas!

Thank you…

<— not currently a null-sec player

While I might be on board with the idea of null-sec being made less safe, the way CCP is going about this is complete non-sense. Especially because in every other big shake-up (sov changes, jump timer) we got months and months of time to prepare. Why the suddence change in approach when previous time the old way work pretty well?

How I’m going to feel: Shiney!

I find it funny how PvP bears are hyping the “great hunt”, which supposedly will happen after local is gone. It’s like they don’t realize that things won’t stay the way they are now. Imagine that people aren’t dummies. They won’t feed you their ratting and mining ships. Should they undock to do PvE content they will do so in either capital ships within capital umbrella or throwaway boats worth nothing. Nullsec will turn into an empty wasteland with an exception of tightly guarded pockes full of capital ships, in which you will be dropped on and bosoned. A number of ships will also become unviable. For example out of all mining boats the only viable ones will be Procurer, because cheap and tanky, and Rorqual.

I agree that nullsec is already boring with local but simply deleting it tips the balance too far towards one side: the covert ops side. People should be encouraged to undock and pew-pew cloaked baddies out of their space, but they lack tools to do so. Hopefully observatory structures might be a sign that CCP is aware of this issue.

It’s called losing.

Higher ore prices = good for miners?
Here is the 700 IQ part: Higher the prices, faster you get your ship worth back + faster profit.
Also if you choose your system / belt smartly it is pain to find you. No local is double edged sword.
