Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

They know it won’t slow anything down. I’m betting it has more to do with bots than anything.
The large groups in null will just find a way to adapt, they won’t slow down. That is one of the upsides to having large numbers, it gives you more ability to simply adapt to conditions.

It has been interesting to discuss this I hope I shined a little light on what I feel is a negative aspect to a permanent blackout not everyone would do well some play the game on Plex allot play on out of pocket, people can say good bye to those people but remember how long it takes to get someone to be brave enough to go to null under normal circumstances, and lost people means less opportunities for some.

There were a lot of dead T1 haulers 10-15km from gates in triglavian insvaion areas - distribution bots I’m guessing

… Autopilot… In null… Jesus woodworking Christ I hate bots and lazy people.

I went to null my first week. People forget this is a game.
I’m not to sympathetic about people being scared to lose pixel assets in a pvp game.
Sure, do what you can to protect your hard work, but being hobbled by fear of loss of a digital made-up asset is just silly.
And honestly, I don’t think it would empty null, people would have to actually play the game though. Null would still be fine, it just might be a bit different and actually more active because team effort would be needed in a more significant way.

Anyways, you’ve given me a few things to think about, so thank you for that. Always good to hear another point of view.

Yes “EVE is kill”. Been listening to whiners screaming that for years. EVE is still here though. Imagine that.

Its 10 hour roam to find ANY prey now, so no loss.

I have jumped thru a lot of wormholes into Null some of the time the systems are empty, most of the time everyone docks up super fast.

I can remember only one group that re-shiped into frigates and ventured out to fight me at the wormhole - it was 3v1 but at least I got one of them - The Watchmen Alliance in Catch and remember there could have been dozen ships on the other side of the WH and they still put-up

free intel is the ingame map telling participation trophy pvpers where to go find the only things they can hopefully win against thats another living human

Really Arrendis? You just said you are in a covops every day, then followed that with “Why should you get to hide from the people hunting you in the first place?” So which is it?
You should get to hide because you have a cloak, why should you get to magically detect everyone in system by doing nothing?

 at this point i’m sure Lugburz is a highsec nub looking to troll - nothing else makes sense … or he’s just dumb. anyway +1 drac

Don’t you love it when you jump in with a frigate and all the VNI pilots dock up and then send out a fleet fit to fight a war? Its freaking hilarious.

Yes, that is ALSO free intel that I don’t support.

Talks about prey…z-kill says you are 84% snuggly alltime, 100% snuggly rescent with no weekly activity. Which makes a a troll pretending to be good.

Gates aren’t the only way in fool. And bosun away, nobody cares.

When did I ever pretend to be good?
If I were good my KB wouldn’t be so incredibly atrocious.
And sure I’m snuggly, just ask all the girls…
So, apparently “snuggly” means “dies a lot”, lol. Guess that’s what happens when you will attempt any fight you come across, which I see as a good trait.
So, how exactly were you hoping to insult me with this?

You should also note that much of my non-activity has been while in the Imperium, so what does that tell you? It should tell you that null pretty much sucks these days.

It’s a neat idea for sure to have exclusively player owned gates ONLY in a system. Bottom line however is that for being almost completely without risk there’s gotta be big downsides.

Realistically this kinda thing CANNOT happen in current null space. Too much infrastructure currently in place and far to many people who’d be unable to pvp because their targets will simply hide freely within the built up systems.

However such a thing could work in a new type of added system (Fringe system?). Systems so far off the beaten path that no empire has built a gate to them and obviously no infrastructure like communications (local) and colonies. Meaning of course no Ihubs as there’s no CONCORD sensor network to interface with and more importantly no super production in safe systems. Probably go ahead and make the moon mining hisec level for some lore reason too just to be safe. This would also be in theme with the Upwell structures as they are meant for colonists “seeking the dream to live among the stars”.

Course the problem is accessing said systems without gates. Maybe cynos get lit at random times every day via old empire discovery probes? Then another problem is how to promote ownership by smaller groups as otherwise big groups would probably just take them all over day one cause caps, how to get back and forth from an owned fringe system and kspace in something other than a capital since otherwise it’d severely limit the players that can to move there, how to get back in a capital since the closest system in the gate network isn’t necessarily owned by you. Neat idea but plenty of problems that need fixing and way to much work for devs to actually do realistically.

Wasn’t suppose to be an insult. Was just stating for the record, so others won’t mistake you for a skilled player that understands the game.

Being a crap pvper is not the same as not understanding the game. Nice non-use of your brain.

what a douche.

Oh, I know we can’t have player owned gates without some serious changes to many mechanics. Its not something I ever expect to see, I just think its a good idea that unfortunately isn’t really workable with current mechanics. There are several other things in that category that I’d like to see, but don’t have any expectation that they will ever be.
