You have no idea whats going to happen…and dont give me your “ive been here for 20 years” reasons of being a supposed psychic detective.
When and if it happens like youve predicted…then and only then can you sing to high heavens about it.

Yep and I had better have a basket with balloons and a marching band. Otherwise I am not going.
As to what will or will not happen. I have my reservation, but am hoping to be proven gladly wrong. No one here can know for certain how it will play out.
Maybe this gentle introduction to the Eve 'verse is the silver bullet in keeping new players for more than a months or two. Possibly it could be the answer to many other issues of player retention as well.
I am hoping that in spite of my reservations. That this is, if nothing else, might provide an answer in what direction that FC needs to go in for player retention. But none of use can know for certain till after 9 June. And then see the numbers in a few months after that.
I’m not so sure who is more braindead…single highsec players on autopilot without scout and proper fitting on their way through ganking hotspots…or doctrine flying F1 fleet lemmings that use and do what they are told to do without thinking and questioning any of it…
The Death of the Sandbox: How CCP and Null Blocs Castrated EVE
CCP realized that new players are drawn to EVE by legendary tales of high-stakes espionage, omnipresent danger, and a player-driven butterfly effect. Naturally, their brilliant countermove was to immediately strip away all risk and isolate rookies in a sanitized safety bubble. Absolutely genius execution—felt like a Blizzard move. CCPlease… just stop.
Day One vs. Modern EVE
My day one in 2009 was peak EVE: I witnessed a gank, stole the loot, made my first million, and immediately died to CONCORD trying to shoot someone else. That raw, player-driven chaos is what made the game legendary. Screw CCP’s safe spaces, scripted NPC wars, and forced roleplay. Bring back can-flipping and real sandbox danger as the only reality.
The Loss of Small-Gang Agency
In Highsec, we used to roam in small gangs, clash with Lowsec and Nullsec groups, and fight for actual extortion control over the trade hubs. The game was alive because any small group had a shot at becoming the next big thing through pure player agency. Now? We just get scripted NPC updates and CCP-driven events. Screw the theme park—bring back player-driven content!
The Corporate Pasture
The reality is clear: Nullsec blocs and CCP are just running a dairy farm. They built the highest fence possible to keep the cows safe, docile, and ready for visa swipes. The hardcore sandbox is dead; it is just a corporate cash cow now.
Some people think Eve is a “PvP game first and foremost” but that’s an Alliance perspective.
Nullsec alliances aren’t the ones with that mindset. They know very well how farming (this includes PVE farming) fits into the game.

Those are the same people.
Sometimes I find them mining!
or doctrine flying F1 fleet lemmings that use and do what they are told to do without thinking and questioning any of it…
This is not an attempt to justify F1 monkeys, but in all fairness – those F1 pushers don’t have any more opportunity to question/rebel against the given orders than a line soldier does in an actual real life army. (And in all seriousness – you wouldn’t want any random line member start yoloing their own course – that would lead to absolutely nowhere, and fleet fights in EVE would become a joke. Like it or not, for the fleet to get anything done, there have to be F1 pushers who don’t question the tactics or the strategy of the commanders). They don’t have the big picture, intel, to even make the adequate decisions on actions.
When you join the army this is one of the things you just have to accept unconditionally – to trust that your superiors know what they’re doing (it’s not always the case, but I think the problems in this regard have been minimized in a modern military force). Or don’t join up. So it is with EVE alliance fights/wars. Although EVE fights can happen for completely ridiculous reasons that don’t have a real-life parallel, the line members are not there to make tactical decisions. If you do want to be the one to do that, then you gotta gear yourself towards becoming an FC (fleet commander).
It’s very attractive to some vets, 'cos some vets like to encourage noobies. It’s another option on getting to know the game. Okay, it will be the only option from June 9th.
The barrier to exiting Exordium will be great, so perhaps not-CCP should consider missions which cross into Genesis by default. Like one of the starter missions has to deliver outside Exo. Get them out before they realise they are out.
Can we have a downvote option ? Sure it has been requested, but there’s some sh3-fle-te in this thread.
I think a downvote has been requested umpteen times already, to no avail…
Thought so, but if you only want to hear good stuff rather than see what opinions polarise participants in forums … ah, well.
We have 3 options:
Can we have a downvote option ?
Yes, its been requested many many times. It would be intensively abused.
I even admit it…i would abuse it as well with all the foolishness i read on these boards sometimes.
Nothing wrong with downvoting something you think is stupid, just as there is nothing wrong with upvoting something you think is worthy of that. The only reason there isn’t a downvote option is because the majority of you have skin thinner than my patience…
i would use it well with all the foolishness i read on these boards sometimes.
FTFY!
If your idea is sh*t, it should be downvoted into oblivion. Simple as that. It would stop a lot of clutter and repeat posts on this forum…
You have no idea what’s going to happen
(fixed it for you
) Sadly, neither do you. Or any of us for that matter. CCP has consistently failed to get players to do what they want, to play the game the way they want. New players will still have a hard time learning. Vets will try to abuse the system.
New players will still have a hard time learning
Vets will try to abuse the system
These two things are 100% guaranteed to happen
Sadly, neither do you
You havent seen me make any doom and gloom predictions…have you.
No, you havent. Nothing to fix here.
These two things are 100% guaranteed to happen
Nature of the beast with any mmo.

Indeed. The sand in the ‘sandbox’ has increasingly become cement. I couldn’t care less what the latest scripted ‘event’ is. I don’t care about dark lords of this or that scripted lore. If I wanted NPC stuff I’d stick to offline games. I log into an MMORPG to interact with people…and shoot them.
