Ive looked into the hauling playstyle and it definitely peaks my interest, I got a Badger from the Caldari missions, how do I get started
Distribution missions. Use a Sunesis with cargo expanders for the L1 and L2 missions, it’s so much faster and you don’t need that much space.
Yeah, you’re hauling for NPCs, but you don’t have the money for collateral to haul player cargo.

After you get your footing a some skills for hauling and armor and shields etc, reach out to any of the hauling services like black frog, push x etc.
Oh, and learn how to gank haulers. It makes it harder for the gankers if you know how they’re going to be hunting you. Can you imagine hunting a deer that knows what a tree stand is and that you’re only ever there for a couple hours a day?

If you do contract hauling beware of the scams. They will post something like 40 to 50 million ISK for collateral ( ISK you risk to lose ) and offer 10 to 20 million as reward. This obviously means they are betting on you to lose the load between point A to point B. They might have the route go deep into low or null security. They might be playing on you to not have a ship big enough to haul the load. Most alpha haulers max out around 25 to 30 thousand in volume. If the load size is greater than you can haul, they got you the moment you accepted the contract. Most honest contracts will be 10% or less for the reward over collateral. Make sure you have the time to haul the load. The system wants you to go the shortest distance, I always make my own path even if it is longer.
Be mindful of choke points like Ahbazon, when shipping between Amarr and Jita. Pirates set gank camps on the two gates. Use your map tools to view ships lost in the systems, pilots active in space, and if it looks like a trap, it is a trap.
Space truck driver is a fine job and helps others.

If you’re Omega, train Cloaking, High Speed Maneuvering, and Navigation skills up, Learn the MWD+Cloak trick to more easily navigate chokepoints. It’s not a guarantee you’ll make it through if the gate is actively camped, there are counters to it, but it’ll help. Plenty of YouTube tutorials on this trick.
The upgrade to the badger is a tayra. Put cargo expansion & optimization on them and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg. The hull runs 3 to 4 million. If you have an armarr toon, you can get the sister ship called the bestower for about the same price. The fed’s ships are all geared as special haulers like the miasmos is for ore and gas, the epithelial is for planet industry, and such. The minmater’s haulers look like junk and most are junk.
The badger is the starter ship, those are for small loads and should cost you 1 million isk or less. But you won’t haul a lot in that one. The tayra will max out between 33000 and 35000, mine are at 26000 and I can haul several 5 frigates at 5000 packaged or 10 small frigates packaged at 2500.
