So?

If there is no one behind the wheel, what’s the problem?

And the citadel takes a week to destroy. If you suggest it takes the same time to find a cloaker then sure.

Even more,
they must warp to anomaly every 10-20minutes,
lock targets and press F1, …, Fn every 10-20 seconds
you see, ratters already in worse condition

Yes, but that is to obtain a benefit. The suggested mechanic is not a benefit.

The benefit would be keeping an active cloak so that you maintained your 100% safety even in the presence of armed and hunting hostiles.

No, that is imposing a cost. Christ, can you go buy and elementary text book on economics or something.

Tell ya what…

How about we make it so that decloaking probes prompt something like this, with a window of say 5-10 seconds depending on the skill of the probeing pilot. That way the only time a cloaker has to worry about being decloaked is when there is an active hunter in the system.

ATK? No problem, you just hit the switch until the next probe cycle, and you only have to worry about it when someone is actually looking for cloaks.

Instant Death switch? Not really. First you have to fail to hit the switch, then they still have to use normal probes to find you. Be awake and aware and you will have almost no chance of being caught even if you are too slow to hit a button.

Not with local in it’s current form…

Great, yet anpther thing to worry about in WH space. Gee thanks, there goes any chance of a bio break whilst you’re working down a chain.

Yeah, wormholers yet another casualty of mechanics changes.

Maybe probing cloaked ships should be something linked to sov. That lets WH guys off the hook. But it would make sov NS “safer” and not sure that is needed, IMO. We all know Goons would use this to fullest extent possible.

As goons are completely unaffected by cloakers in any way, it would not matter.

As for bio-breaks… You only have to worry about it when people are actively looking, and you can always just log out and log back in. It’s not as if cloaking was the only way possible to go to the bathroom once in a while.

If you entire playstyle relies on being 100% mechanically safe, maybe you need to rethink the balance of that playstyle.

No playstyle with cloaks relies on being 100% mechanically safe. To actually do anything you have to drop cloak and be 100% unsafe in a sub-par combat ship.

Then you should have no issue.

There is no issue with cloaks. There is no other area that has a problem with them, just PvE farmers in supposedly the most dangerous space.

It’s not even the cloak that’s the problem there, it’s your fear of the cyno. I guess there’s also no way for a bot to know if the name in local is cyno equipped, so they would still dock up. What a shame.

Add to this that multiple ships are balanced around using a cloak. Reduce or negate cloak functionality and you have to rebalance every single one of them.

Which highlights that the issue with cloaks is down to the organization…not the module.

To be fair, Goons are also completely unaffected by someone rolling a few capital fleets into their space too.

For goons, their sheer size insulates them from almost any calamity that would crush almost all other smaller entities.

So no, it’s not that cloaks aren’t busted, it’s that goons are too big to fail.

You mean mostly. There have been many people come in and complain about other aspects. There have also been hilarious pro-cloak people that tried to ‘defend’ cloaks by pointing out that their unsupported capitals could be hunted, that their scouting forays would become challenging, and other a few other humerous points that highlighted just how broken they really are.

This is a repost: Make a capital module that does a 10000km burst, that makes cloaky combat probable but not lockable, 2-5m charge up with obvious annotations the the module firing, oh and make the pulse slow moving so you can still get away. (Simple solution, allows you to clear a grid with out breaking cloaky camping as a whole) [Anti-afk mechanic]

And I’m pretty sure people would love to go play minesweeper in space

Still someone cloaked can decide to go play football for 2 hours, come back and then decide to play eve. In the meantime that afk bot ship in space is causing players to hunt or try to track down this afk bot which impacts gameplay. Why should other players hunt someone afk in a safespot ? thats not fair to the players that are in front of their computer wanting to attack/defend a pos or a citadel defence/attack or for that matter mining and ratting.

Point is to deal with the AFK bot that continues to have a green module from downtime to downtime. That is not fair to other players in front of the computer wanting to play the game,

And why do you have to be in the one of two alliances ingame thats not affected by cloakers if ratting and mining are your preference ? Also those two alliances are the ones actively using the cloaky mechanic to stop other smaller alliances from using their space.

My proposal with a GUI mechanic to confirm recloaking doesnt really affect wormholes much, in wormholes cloak is essential for survivability so changing the mechanic itself is bad, but mabye the timer in wormholes can be extended to eg. every 15 min instead of every 5 min in null space so the gui confirmation will be less tidious in wormholes.

But then how would anyone be able to undermine your reliance on the perfect infallibility of local chat? If you had to click on a popup box every 5 minutes, it would be impossible to counter that perfect intel.

It seems to me it would be much harder to catch PvE players in nullsec with this change no?

No not really. quick interceptor to catch, wormholes that roles every day. login traps. still plenty of ways to catch pve players. Not to mention super quick t3 ships, alot of different combinations in fittings that can be done to be quicker. Its just that for this alone to catch pve players cloaking has become the easyest way to catch them. also easyest way for mega alliances to break smaller alliances.

Im just asking for to ensure theres a real player behind the cloak thats all.
