How is it that all the perma-victims think they are ganking experts?
CONCORD has spawn mechanics that gankers leverage to draw them to gates or stations or deadspace and away from their targets in mission pockets, belts, or on a gate. It’s like a criminal tripping the alarm at house A before breaking into house B. CONCORD does not have infinite resources - there is one response fleet per X space (I don’t recall the details off-hand) so they have to actually travel to the site of an infraction to address it. The security rating of a high sec system determines the base response time, but pulling CONCORD out of position (by sacrificing a ship at Point A, to get the fleet farther from point B) adds time to the warp-in timer for arrival. This, tanking fits are designed around surviving for at least the maximum warp-in time to CONCORD’s arrival, so that the tanking ship is still alive by the time CONCORD arrives, or have logistics ships in place to keep them around - denying the gankers any loot while still forcing their ship deaths, because CONCORD kills the ganker regardless of the survival of the gank target.
It’s not impossible to survive a gank attempt. Between knowing how to escape incoming gankers (flying aligned to a warp out point and monitoring local+Dscan for dangerous players/ships), to making yourself a less attractive target for PvP (inexpensive fits in higher activity areas, or keeping off the beaten path entirely when using more expensive fits), you can avoid a confrontation entirey; by fitting a tank and/or having friends around ready to support with logi, ECM, or DPS, you can keep yourself alive even if you don’t get away, causing the gankers to lose their CONCORDed ships for nothing. You can also bait them into attacking targets and then kill the haulers they send to loot the wrecks, denying them their profits.
It’s a very nuanced playstyle, requiring investment of time, ISK, and skills. Not everyone is successful at ganking in general, not all gank attempts are successful, and not all successful gank attempts are profitable.
