Honestly yes, make it a cloaky and add ‘combat cams’ as an ingame highslot module tying into the ship, tie the skills in with fleet command skills and make it more of a command operations ship than an ongrid ship; a proper fc should not be concerned with killmails.
*tie in cam use with targeting skill ie. you can only view as many as you yourself can target
*tie in any ship bonuses to fleet command skill, though to be fair not sure youd really need any other than an actual ship skill itself
*tie in the cam with broadcasts or tags
Above isnt a perfect suggestion, merely ideas.
Ship instantly becomes viable for basically any fleet and doesnt need to worry about speeds, align times etc.
It also adds an entirely new dynamic to the whole fleet command world whilst taking nothing from ongrid teams, merely being able to better co-ordinate from a safer distance but still relies whole heartedly on TEAM PLAY in a TEAM GAME.

I dont think this ship will see much use, in fact i see it getting headshotted even more so or being used as a decoy or simply being used by those who are ‘all glory, no balls.’ allowing them to live through every fleet whilst their team members die… but its alright, their still alive, an thats what matters isnt it…
10/10 i would probably leave fleet and alliance if i saw fc using this, no lie.
in effect your squad should be led by a sergeant, wing by a leutenant and fleet by an admiral; admirals are rarely in the line of fire, using communications (and in some military units) combat cams to direct their forces.
Your real world military analogy has no meaning in a video game.
The one other thing this ship needs are
4 high slots to fit each doomsday device.

its tactical game, people often use tactics ingame, divide and conquer being the main one but also feints and ambushes. Even fps use real world strategies, though you may not realise it.
I’m assuming, since they went to the trouble of making a whole new skill line and everything, that there will be a few more of this ship type to fill out different kinds of FCing.
So maybe there will be one somewhere down the line that has other options, like a probe launcher or the ability to do whoring aggro. Otherwise, they would have just added this as another CONCORD hull without the specialized skillbook.

The probes being tied to cargo space argument makes no sense to me. If a Chemosh can have a dedicated Corpse Bay, why can’t an FC ship have a dedicated Probe Bay?

after all FC’in should have a higher level of difficulty, right ? should it not be the pinnacle of one of the careers in EVE?
with this “freak” ship you effectively just want to hold “newbies” hands an give them a ship that does not break even if they make stupid mistakes, again, nonsensical… it’s all about holding the “newbie’s” hand.
We can also already see how this is going to be exploited. can’t you ? /facepalm

Anyone flying this ship will be immediately identified as the FC (and probable anchor). Scram/Point/Web this ship and have all the anchored fleetmembers in chaos.

No, seriously… why don’t you add an effect that boosts remote reps effect on the command ships? Or buffs on passive/active tanking or whatever?
What about real battle? Commander isnt invulnerable, he is just man in maybe better armor than other soldiers but often he spends much more money to buy the better suit.
Same is in eve: if FC wanna be stronger he will fit frac or deadspace resists and shield extenders\armor plates
The role of FC is very important and responsible, so if newbie want to command the fleet he should make an effort.
Anyway, if FC become invulnerable, what will be after this? Logi with mothership’s ehp, scouts with 99% resists?

Yeah - well I agree but this won’t help in certain key fleets with infamous FC’s. They will be headshot instantly with or without deadspace resists, but along with this sort of thinking, a good FC doesn’t treat their pilots like glorified drones. GET A REAL PROBE SCOUT FFS AND LET THEM HAVE THEIR OWN SQUAD TO MOVE. An FC doing too much multitasking and multiboxing is an FC that is not paying attention, and isn’t treating their pilots with respect. For those of us who do not care about our killboards, it takes a lot more than killmails to keep us interested in flying with them. We need to be given stuff to do. FC’s that don’t know how to use their pilots should just fly a drone boat.

this will never be used for anything but small gangs for everyone in there brother will dog pile on it and laugh for you declaring the fc for them. even then this will make it 100x easier to target fc for no one else will even bother. another case of ccp wasting resources on developing only a micro fraction will attempt to use then it will set un used again like a lot of other useless stuff. we don’t need crap updates like this we need fixes for th 100% cpu usage of the server for one dang fight, not distraction patches that really don’t change jack. fix citadel rat farming in wormholes. not give flag cruisers whos crack induced idea was this any way. fix the sov mechanics that is fozie sov for it is garbage. not wasted dev time on moronic ideas like this. oh and for the love of bob dont put rigs on this thing or it will be another case of the yacht griefers with wormholes
