I don’t think it will. This is a big fleet ship. If it is a medium sized fleet or roaming fleet a T3C or Command Ship will be the superior choice because of the added utility. This ship is for large scale fleet combat. I mean people will be able to use it for whatever. However I don’t see the point in using it in smaller sized fleets or engagements where the opposing fleet wouldn’t have the alpha / dps potential to headshot.
@CCP_Fozzie notice @Lazarus_Telraven @Killah_Bee and many other of the games most experienced FC’s all agreeing. I am part of DRF , Laz is Imperium and Killah Bee is PanFam. That is 3 opposite coalitions. Not to mention Laz and I are the main FC’s from B-R ( the most expensive and deadliest fight in MMO history)

@Manfred_Sideous Would you consider a ship module that just removes your ship from overview and being target locked at the expense of not being able to load any combat weapons (including smart bombs and any kind of drones) the only thing you’d need? You’d still be vulnerable to “hits everything” and targeted by actually being looked at and clicked upon but that would be countered by the signature you built the ship to. Perhaps add a High slot module that sets turrets to 0, launchers to 0, total high slots to 1 and drone bandwith to 0? This module would be a probe launcher. I’d also put a restriction on it to low sec and below use only.
From where I stand, this is a BAD concept from the very start.
there is no amount of “add this” or “give it a whore gun” or “probe launcher” or w/ ever that will make this a good option or bring any improvement to the game. scrap this idea NOW before it’s too late.

honestly, i wounder how some devs still have a job, i know for a fact that the vast majority of the eve nullSEC community wishes that some of thees dev’s would find another job, sooner rather than later.
Im sorry but horde are incredibly foul mouthed and unruly, not all of them but the vast majority; this has become their signature. Rewarding a few of them with such a ship for being unprepared and uneducated somewhat goes against the opposing side who HAVE spent time learning, preparing and practicing.

But so are good scouts, logistics and outrider pilots, none work particularly well without the other and most well organised fleets consist of several different arms working together; not just a huge blob of ships with one guy out in front pointing at things. This ship does not promote team activity, if anything it looks to take more away than it would provide.
Big fleet ship isnt what most people are thinking of using it for, i mean will it feasibly tank a full 250 arty machs alpha? Its cruiser sized right? If it cant then the argument ‘for’ is very much in doubt?
If it can tank that, for sure facwar is gonna start to look really f******g stupid with a ton of these flying around.
Id agree with the medium sized fleet choices… which all really leave me to wonder why indeed bother at all? People wont use it if it cant tank 100+ in large fleets and wont bother in smaller fights - so it will be unused? except in facwar areas… where im literally thinking of going as soon as this ship comes out, because someone told me facwar is dank isk

I submit to you the idea of fitting it for high sec bumping of freighters by 2 or more people. Since it’s tanky by default it will be next to impossible to get rid of before a ganking crew could show up to take out the target.
This would be perfect high sec camping alt ship.

Im not overly sure where exactly this ship would be used to be fair but i really do only see issues with it and in it eventually being scrapped or used in more nefarious ways that dont actually involve fleet fc’ing.

Ye id literaly rather see some sort of mobile command base as an fc ship, capable of directing a fleet, or even several at one time; not at the front but sort of above, cloaked. Just seems to me this would be a better option than ‘invincible’ ships.
Id also rather see the implementation of another form of titan, one with multiple gunners… to be franks theres a lot id rather see most of it would probably be on giving the players a better way to create content for themselves than moving towards leaving it in the hands of the few which tend to bully smaller alliances into submission or destruction whilst leaving the other power blocs basically untouched.
Currently these power blocs have a ton of supers and titans, theres some fellas i know that have 2 maybe 3 titans… maybe more… content is there to be had and its my personal belief that the guys CCP seems to think ‘create’ content have more of a hand in stopping it than anything.
That and crappy static/linear game mechanics for farming isk…
Still think a high slot module that sets high slots to 1, drone bandwith to 0, removes your ship from overview but leaves it visual targeting a better solution. Considering cloaking as an option then there would need to be two versions of it. One for probes and one for cloaking. Choose your poison. I’d still restrict it from high sec. You can still be bumped and bombed.
Picture limiting this to a Recon ship?
if it can still be locked recons usually have an incredibly weak tank, if it cant be locked recons defo would not be good for this as their main power comes from midslots anyway.
All in all there are ships already available for fleet command, albeit only bc size; id be quite happy to see a bs sized command ship with all the trimmings, but i feel the creation of a ship built specifically to counter ‘headshotting’ on grid seems… just not very good game design.
Similarly catering to a few individuals because they say ‘they create content for thousands’ i can only really see as a bad idea.
Id like to know who these few individuals are only then could i really see their argument for such a ship, after hearing it of course; though id probably still strongly disagree in their pov.
make your dev’s time count for useful things that actualy improve things for once and go fix things. give us a command battleship instead and overhaul battleships in general, stop nerfing battlecruisers etc etc.

Would Fc’s literally rather have something on grid with more survivability or a ship with a cloak that can do the following on one screen/one toon:
‘central command unit’
*warp whilst cloaked
*View ‘combat cams’ (limited amount based on skills)
*View primary, secondary and tertiary/tagged locked targets - maybe linked to command ship module
*some form of ewar for defensive measures and limited drone bay; bonus for ecm drones perhaps.
- combat cam = highslot module that can be fitted to interceptor/cov ops allows ‘central command unit’ to view whats on their screen at the touch of a button.
This would give an fc a greater view of the whole battle with clever use of alts and main scouts, still enable them some command of fleet movement but would need to still rely on ongrid fc’s and teamwork but also possibly allow for an entirley new concept of actual fleet, wing and squad command positions?
Of course that really wouldnt be an easy thing to do, certainly not as easy to program as the monitor but i feel that it is actually what is lacking from fleets, a way to coordinate differently armed squads and wings faster and more efficiently.

What is the point to this ship?
It has less ehp than the fc can already get with other options. As a result this does nothing to address the issue.
It also is only a band aid to the main issue. Being alphaed is fun for no one. It just causes a few more issues for an fc to suffer. So why not solve the main issue. Put a flat dps cap on every ship class. Put a remote rep limit in of half that, also a remote cap amount so local reps are limited. Now no-one has their day ruined by alpha. And an fc who cares about staying on grid can just brick tank their ship at the cost of dps and utility to make the difference. (Ok. The ASB might need limiting to a single one per ship also but it should always have been. The AAR is and thats far weaker).
Of course clever use of spearfishing squads could actually limit the alpha any fleet could actually do also. Coordinating a mutlifaceted fleet is a massive issue in eve online, an i fully believe thats really where the issue in fleet command really lies, having said that your proposal would be a better solution to ‘invincible’ ship but i feel it would again limit fleet doctrine makeups.
I have never subscribed to the idea of having a ship like this. Headshoting FCs is a valid tactic that you would see in the real world. This is essentially the British response to the US killing off British officers to create disorder in the ranks. It’s like calling foul for something that is very valid. The issue isn’t FCs getting headshot, it’s the fact that fleets are not organized like they should. We have all been flying around like marmots following 1 FC. Fleet comp should ALWAYS have back up FCs to pick up the fleet when the primary FC dies. You should have an entire chain of command for the fleet A->B->C…if you do this you need not worry about a dedicated ship for FCs to use. This ship is a cancer to the very notion and spirit of eve which is survival of the fittest, the fleet who has the best commander chain of command and such. The whole, “this ship will encourage more new FCs to get into the role” no, not one single time have I heard someone go,“well I would FC but I don’t want to be the first to die.” They don’t FC simply out of lack of experience and FCs aren’t really “trained” they are just tossed into the mix and often times from stepping up when no one else will. Timidness is not from first to die on the field, it’s from lack of knowledge and experience. There needs to be more focus toward these goals and less toward this bandaid solution. There is no way I could ever support a ship with this kind of role. Eve is brutal, suck it up, if youre fleet is dying too quickly, train more FCs and set up a chain of command, don’t rely on a single individual that makes or breaks the fleet.
if you guys don’t like it don’t use it… One thing EvE players do best is complain about anything that could change the metas. One area this ship could really help is in a wormhole home defense fight. If you loss a fight during an eviction attempt then you probably lost EVERYTHING. An FC in this ship for these kind of fights could be the difference in getting to keep all your items, ships, everything or lose it all and have to find a way to replace your billions lost. If your Podded during home defense you don’t just undock from the home station your fighting on and rejoin the fight… Your set out to known space and cant get back in at all. A head shot in J-Space could end your whole corp. Or it might not have a place in J-Space… The simple thing is that this ship IS COMING. So stop complaining about it and find ways to use it or kill it… Maybe you should train up some command Ds and go spear fish their FC from the fleet and kill him ( I don’t know that’s for you all to figure out). Change your meta and stop complaining… It doesn’t help anyone…
