[March] The Monitor Flag Cruiser

adding a broken ship and a broken concept also does not help anyone, specially when so many other issues need dev attention.

and also this ship concept is bad in so many ways and exploitable in so many ways as well.

stop dealing in absolutes, people are complaining and with very good reasons so your post adds nothing to the discussion.

it has a 30 sig radius, good luck getting effective hits on it from anything larger than frigate guns, also, your second suggested for limiting the game is just…wow…that would ruin the game

please tell me how you can exploit a ship that has only tank…literally nothing else

if you can’t see how it can be exploited then that is your problem… also i don’t want to give people any ideas, and several have already been mentioned in this blog, and i can think of many other ways that have not been mentioned yet.

Oh btw,

What about Remote Hull Repairers repairing Heat damage alongside hull?

And this had nothing to do with the thread, I’m outta here!

your aware that works both ways right?

HAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHA OMFG SRSLY???

Thats why we pod people in jspace, its also why we use multiple alts to sit in them offline to scan exits down when needed and why hole control is the strategy used when defending or attacking someones hole.

Basically youve just highlighted another strategic area where this ship would be an issue. Good spot!!

Your knowledge seems limited so i will tell you one way that it WILL be used.

Defence plexing in facwar, you probably need more than that but at the basic level all you do is sit there for a limited time.

interesting idea, i think hull reps really need to be visited.

If you think its likely to be used for that at all i think you are being incredibly misled.

@CCP_Fozzie If you MUST implement this… mabye give it a usefull module in the mids then to whore on kills… I am thinking about a kind of target painter, that doesn’t give a sig bonus, but broadcasts the target to the fleet and gets the pilot on the killmail. Make it green?

Other then that, I don’t see the issue of “headshotting” that big…

I’m curious about the definition being used for “head-shot” in this thread.
Is it a single alpha volley or sustained damage?
Because we all know, if someone is determined to kill you no amount of logi will save you, especially in the type of fights this thing “could” be used for.

Headshot in my book is killing the opposing FC as soon as possible. IE, if there are 500 feroxs or arty machs on grid, they all lock the opposing FC and keep shooting it until it dies.
How is this ship any different to any other command ship - Will it not take damage from an opposing fleet/s who are determined to kill it? Will it survive a few hundred fighter bombers for more than a few seconds?
What is it that saves it from being “headshot”.

I only ask because this is Eve - When someone comes up with something that is meant to do something “special”, as in the way this thing is being touted - it won’t take more than a few attempts to find a way to successfully head-shot them.
In fact, I believe by the time it has been on SISI for a few days there will be those who have found a way to head-shot them and once a few die pointlessly on the battlefield CCP will either have to buff it to the ridiculous or just leave it to become a replacement for bumping machs in highsec.
Brick tanked battlecruiser that can do 3k m/s with no fitting issues is the perfect bumping machine for gankers.

Command Ships will still be the superior choice in the kind of large-scale fighting we do. Small sig radius cuts both ways. See one of these things being used, send in the Claws. Lock up the FC, ECM burst w/the claws, and have your battleships open fire. About the only thing that’ll lock in time is a Guardian carrying a scripted sebo, and they’ll be lucky to get the reps cycled.

That’s an even worse idea.

Welcome to the process of ‘feedback’, where we tell CCP what’s going to happen, they insist we’re wrong, and then when they do it anyway, it plays out just like we said it would… again.

Killing this thing’s going to be easy. ‘Spearfishing’ is generally done by what’s called ‘Snatch Fleets’ and is already done (not just on the FC). This will not change the mets at all, and that’s kind of the point we’re trying to make to CCP here.

You think this thing’s going to be hard to kill in J-space? No harder than a Legion, or Damnation is, at best. Really, I doubt this thing’s going to hit the 1M+ EHP mark those two can manage. So no, not harder to kill, and congratulations, you’ve taken one of your pilots completely out of the fight. In J-space. Where numbers are smaller, so individual contributions matter more.

Use this ship in the hole, you’ll lose.

Old ccp, the guys who actually made the game and helped it along in its first decade would have been all htfu if someone complained about being headshot. New ccp, those folk who have twiddled their thumbs during eve’s long slow decline are all oh my gawd you poor baby let me make you a new ship. And people wonder why player count keeps going down. I guess ccp just keeps on looking for that one Jesus item that will bring in the alpha hordes and make eve great again. Nothing like throwing away what made you unique and fun to make yourself more accessible for the causal player. Where are those causal players anyways?

The irony here is palpable.

Sigh it seems clear that you have an incredible ability to not only see something beyond the words written that isn’t there, and ignore the actual text itself.

It also appears that sarcasm and parody is lost on you as well. It’s going to get very tedious trying to explain every little nuance and example to you. And frankly, I don’t have the same patience of a school teacher, so I don’t plan to.

Except it’s not my argument, since you haven’t actually addressed it beyond the initial response. You still haven’t given a good reason why “it exists irl therefore should be ok ingame” is even remotely close to good practice when designing a non-simulator gaming environment.

In case you weren’t aware (pretty sure you’ve forgotten/ignored it), that was my original point. Everything else after that came out of your mouth masquerading as my words.

If you don’t already know what a straw-man argument is, you really should look it up. It may come as a surprise to you, but simply saying something and pretending that I am saying it does not mean I said it.

its a strategic game, you know this, stop trolling.

Good question, I have personally asked CCP to add vote poles everywhere as well rather then taking CSMs 100% word for it but who realy knows.

[ One speculation is the ship is already done and the developers don’t want to scrap something a lot of hours have been spent on. ] this part should not be used as a serious argument. -.-

But thats just a Theory!!

Titans. Lots of hours spent building and people don’t want to scrap them. They still USE them though.

Now as long as this ship shows up on overview it’ll take me a whole 1 setting tab to find and headshot you faster. Unless of course this ship can survive direct doomsday weapon fire? At which point this ship isn’t a ship anymore.

“Cus Kittens!” is what i hear.

Now answer Corraidhin’s question

One speculation is the ship is already done and the developers don’t want to scrap something a lot of hours have been spent on.

Yes…and how in the world has that stopped CCP from scrapping any other features before? In game browser and Captains Quarters…just to name two. If the playerbase doesn’t like it, and feels it would cause more trouble than its worth then they scrap it, it wouldn’t be the first time it has happened.
