Not sure if this has been covered, but I have a question…
Why an emphasis on armor/HP/EHP for a craft that is not supposed to be engaged in combat in the first place?!?
I would think the emphasis would be on anything to keep from being target-locked or successfully hit, as in electronic warfare modules…
If you (hypothetically) cannot be target locked or hit, armor is no longer that important I would think.
I know they must have been thinking something like this when they gave it the signature radius of a frigate, but why not just go in that direction as a focus and allow self-defense EW modules???
He has it exactly right.
This thing CAN get on killmails by using a target painter that has zero attributes (does not help the fleet kill the target at all) other than extended range.
Basically the FC target paints a target (with a useless whore module) and gets on killmails.
He or she is getting cake and able to eat it too.
Eve is not like real life or anything resembling it when it comes to large fleet fights. The FC doesn’t sit up on a perch somewhere and watch what is going on, that would render him/her completely useless.
No offence intended. Having read all your last comments, I’d suggest you spend an hour or 2 watching some eve vids on youtube. Then spend a little more time talking to some more experienced players, you’d be surprised how many fights are fought out.
Skirmish fleets, never sit still. Kite fleets, rarely stay in one place for long. Sniping fleets, need to reposition once the enemy has a warpin for them. Even the biggest ships in Eve (capitals) need to reposition on the battlefield to get better access to targets or avoid becoming lossmails.
No thank you. Not a fan of guaranteed survival of your FC. If you have a decent FC team, your main FC shouldn’t be obvious (they should assign another person as anchor) nor should their loss be that big of a deal (they should have a competent secondary FC.
That being said, I don’t know if this will really upset the balance of anything. I wouldn’t be cause dead in one of these, and I’m sure lots of FCs, especially in smaller alliances, feel the same.
Don’t know if this has been suggested yet but instead of a ship that makes it obvious who’s probably FCing how about…
…Give whoever is in Fleet/Wing command positions a hitpoint bonus.
Not sure if it’s even possible but it would preserve the stealth of who’s the FC while giving added survival.
