Medium Bay Loading Accelerator I Vs. Medium Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I

While fitting a Tengu for missiles, I noticed that I was getting around 3 more points of DPS with the Medium Bay Loading Accelerator I fit instead of the Medium Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I fit.

How does that work exactly?

rof mods nearly always give more dps than damage mods , but add no alpha . damage mods increase both , and are better in most cases . exception maybe very slow rof weapons like large arty …

simple maths

calefaction catalyst gives you 15% more damage, 1*1.15 = 1.15
bay loading accelerator gives you 15% LESS cycle time, 1/0.85 = 1.176

its generally the opposite, for most use cases people will opt for higher RoF over higher damage

the 2 main use cases for using damage rigs instead of rof are:
Arty ships trying to get as high alpha as possible
Amarr ships increasing dps without increasing the cap burden that higher rof creates

In no means I want to be an ass, but did you even read their attributes?
The loading bay will speed your reaload, if your reload is very long then it will be significantly affected and give you more dps.

it doesnt matter if the cycle time is long or short, the % difference is the same

see the actual reason i posted above:

  • Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II: reload time 10s
  • Rapid Light Missile Launcher II: reload time 35s

15% of 10s?
15% of 35s?

That’s the thing I was talking about, in the end it all boils down to the fit you are running, the hull bonuses and if there are any diminishing results.

rigs don’t affect reload time…

bay loading accelerators reduce the cycle time of the weapon, the only way to change reload times are event drugs and specific ship bonuses

Loading Accelerator vs Warhead Calefaction with different values could be because diminishing returns, could be the hull, or whatever, something is stacking on something, gotta check the fit for sure

sorry , trying to rap my head around the math …
so every 1 second of cycle time , is 0.026 % more dps over a damage rig ?
i fitted a ham tengu and the dps difference between the two rigs was about 1% …

its 2.6% more not 0.026%, but bare in mind rigs are subject to stacking penalties aswell, so if you have multiple rof bonuses like from bcs, the effectiveness of adding more bonuses goes down
