Killboards are an excellent source of intel and for this reason folks have hesitated to share their killmails. Reasons might include:
For roams, the enemy might know you’re coming
Easy to see what you’re flying and combat your fit
and many more
Delayed killmails have been a long-standing request. While I’ve personally been skeptical of the idea, offering the option seems like a reasonable compromise.
Delayed Killmails Example
Delay options are:
ASAP - killmails will post as they are received.
1 hour - killmails will post when they are 1 hour old.
3 hours - killmails will post when they are 3 hours old.
8 hours - killmails will post when they are 8 hours old.
24 hours - killmails will post when they are 24 hours old.
72 hours - killmails will post when they are 72 hours (3 days) old.
As you see in the image, manually posted killmails will take priority, and entities with a lower delay will take priority.
For example, if a corporation has added their API with a 3-hour delay, but they shoot someone who has a 1-hour delay, the shorter delay will win.
Since killmails are delayed, they won’t appear in the API or RedisQ until the delay period has passed and the killmail is posted.
The feature will be in Beta for a couple of weeks while I make sure any kinks are ironed out. I hope those asking for delayed killmails enjoy the feature.
Not only what you’re flying, but where. Some of us like our anonymity. For a community that thinks the ability to view outside of a station is too much intel, they sure do love their third party apps that reveal all! I love this game, but the community is very wishy washy when it comes to making sense sometimes.
For guys like me, losing a ship for any reason can be a reason to pack up and find a new home thanks to that kill mail.
Most people will never use this, which means corps/chars that are logged in will by default automatically insta post their mails as normal, and corps like mine, who are not API-regged on Zkill will never post something that others don’t.
It allows automation for people who want to eventually upload their kills but not immediately to not share intel with enemies or targets. Previously this could be done manually only.
It’s a nerf to people who rely on websites like the eve gatecheck tool or to people who use zkillboard to track activity in real time for intel.
I probably won’t use it but like that it’s an option now.
You seem oblivious of the fact that anyone can locate you, with a 15 minute accuracy, with a small fee to a locator agent. That is functionality of EVE itself…and does not require killboard. You have no ‘anonimity’.
