Why not make part of the new mining changes involve effectively astroid storms that move around new eden like other storms, maybe less direct gate to gate and more just light year directional. maybe their is a bunch with different minerals and mechanics ect and maybe they require either a probe ship to find or the alliance sov structures/modules to identify a storm is in area and where the belts are.
I think this would add not only to the simulation aspect but also gameplay and encourage more intermingling, conflict and resource specific conflicts. It would also help empowerr small alliances and corps again as they would not be specific to just null and they would have to still be scanned down. It could also add some roles like storm trackers and since its light year based as though these are massive interstellar astroid belts people could narrow down where some of the storms might be. There could be a totally new storm spawn in and even and end to the storm at some point once so much has been mined ect. Having some that are minerally dense of one or two irtems could also add some fun excitement. Best part is this could be add discretion of ccp devs/dungeon masters to help encourage scarcity periods or periods of abundance and conflict.
