There also seems to be a progression issue. Its not as exciting when the ship doesent give a clear and specific bonus to the activity you are pursuing.
I mean is this barge supposed to mine ice, gas or ore? Actually all of the above, its real trait is its ore hold size. Do you see how giving ship traits that are similar eleminate the purpose of ship traits and just causes clutter?
How is it cookie cutter? Prove it to me. Mine ice in a Skiff and then mine ice in a Hulk. You pick the fits. Tell me which one has better yield. Then get ganked in each ship and Tell me which one survived.
Fill the holds of each and Tell me which one fills up more quickly.

It’s the same with all ships in this game. Fits will only do so much. You can’t shield tank a ship that’s meant to be armor tanked and expect it to survive long in combat.
The only barge thats meant to be tanky is procurer/skiff and it has a strong bias toward shield afaik
T2 barges should get a utility high slot now that ore-site scanning matters post-Catalyst. It’d also let them fit a cloak, which could get interesting.

Im really excited for so many things in this new expansion! Orca shield buffs for the fleet, Omber and Kernite ores in High Sec, and the new Amarr exploration command ship with the covert ops cloak! Only a few more days for all these goodies!
