I live in high sec and started running security missions as of late. I noticed on the Eve Wiki that some of the mission reports list ores at the bottom of the page.
Is this a thing that I can do still? I see there are multiple sources that list these security mission ores. I just accepted lvl 2 Recon earlier, haven’t started it yet though.
Thanks for any feedback, I will be trying to drop an orca and a couple hulks in this recon mission that I accepted, when I get back home. I just thought I’d pick your brains before dying in that toxic cloud on the way to that Veld
So, I made it to the pocket with the ore, Recon 2 mission, maybe 30-40 Veld with less than 1k m3 each. Maybe some of the other missions have thicker rocks, this spot would not be worth the hassle in high sec.
Yes, it’s a lovely aesthetic seeing 30 or 40 of the same type of asteroid stacked together. Strange that the mission code is apparently too problematic to touch yet…
I always thought it would be nice to have the 10% ores show up in the mission sites not in the belts, or like the old ore sites that contained low-sec ore in HS.
Would you consider mining ore in security missions a “dead end” or are there some decent opportunities to be had still? (Just rather scarce) If harvesting Plag in a 0.5 belt is a better investment of time (99% of the time) Well, then that’s what it is.
I ran 6 or 7 (lvl 3) security missions this morning, maybe 2 or 3 of them had ore, just Veld. I could see how beneficial it would be (in low or null) to have access to a mission full of Veld (in a deadspace pocket) all week.
If I see Omber or something when I start running lvl 4’s, I’d likely bookmark it and try to get back to it before closing the mission out. If it’s worth dragging an orca and 2 hulks into.
If I find myself in a situation like that, I’ll post it here though.
In theory it should be a dead end, if you happen to find one that is worth while it would have been missed. Some have ore, but in very small almost useless amounts.
