Any chance this could also be a UI button? I like clicking buttons, more responsive when going between several clients. And slightly less “tutorializing” in mining fleets for people who dont read patch notes, having to go find the hotkey. If you are adding the Ore Scanner button on the hud for all mining ships it feels natural to put compression there as well.
Im looking forward to it either way, right click options are pain. Thank you UX team.
Use mackinaws instead if you wish to multibox heavily. They give you much more cargo hold and more time inbetween operations. Hulks and covetors get an extra yield bonus that benefit players who dont multibox as heavily, and thats perfectly fine. You dont have to play everything perfect, good enough is also an option.
Ya all seems to be confused. They are not touching yeild but decreasing cycle time.
That only means ur 4000m3 of ore will be 4x1000m3 cycle instead of a 4000m3 cycle. You will have to compress at the same rate. There is no need to increase Storages . If a Crit is 2x the yield which i doubt it will be even then you still have time to compress before the hulk fills or the next cycle drops in.
Got a small QoL ask about the Orca’s packaged volume.
Right now a packed Orca is 500,000 m³. Could we bring that down to ~300,000 m³ so it fits in a Jump Freighter?
To be super clear: I’m not asking for any jump/conduit/bridge options for the Orca itself. Totally get the concern about turning it into a giga-hauler with a jump drive. The point is the opposite - keep the hull jumpless, but make it transportable when packaged.
At the moment the Orca’s a bit of a suitcase without a handle: kind of “capital-ish,” but no jump drive, can’t take a carrier/Rorq conduit, can’t ride Rorq portals. In practice you either gate it through null (lol) or ping a titan just to move a support ship, which feels wildly out of band and kills the hull’s practical value.
Letting a packaged Orca ride in a JF keeps logistics sane (and risky where it should be), doesn’t grant the Orca any jump power, and just smooths deployment for actual mining ops across null.
Thanks for considering - would be a tidy, low-impact win for industry folks. o7
Very nice changes, I don’t like that the expedition command ship requires a sub-command ship skill though, we have well over enough skills in the game. It should only require command ship III imo.
It’s way too niche. Even before launch I didn’t think too much of it because it’s way too niche.
THIS thing is not niche at all, it’s everything a Stratios is but MORE while adding on all kinds stuff. That is what makes it actually crazy and once production is normalised it’s going to become a problem.
This is all quite exciting. The slightly covert new Venture Consortium option, I’m also excited about. I see gas huffing getting a bit of a short end of the stick here, but I don’t know anything about T2 Pioneer, or Consortium Pioneer, so I’ll sit hopeful.
However, curious what an Odysseus will be bursting. Combat bursts? Exploration bursts giving out better scan strength, or virus hitpoints? Also, exploration hold tends to not be that much of an issue.
I guess exploration fleets are addressed here, though I’ve never bumped into one. It tends to be a lone wolf endeavor.
Excited to see the Odysseus tackling all things I’m interested in doing in a wormhole, and likely not being made out of paper like a frigate, possibly even some C2 sites? We’ll see. A ship I want to love.
Those bonuses are all over the place. You keep mentioning the Stratios, but that ship sees extremely little use in PVP - zkill says fewer than 400 kills per week. To me this looks like a gas huffing booster to replace the Gnosis, with some thematic hacking bonuses on top that no one will use (just like on the Nestor).
The Odysseus seems to be a slower Stratios to me, with gas huffing bonuses, hacking range bonuses and a new command burst that boosts ‘expeditions’ which makes me think it boosts gas, scanning and hacking further.
I don’t see how this ship would be a menace when it’s role and all of the bonuses are meant to be for long exploration trips with a bit of combat on the side.
Of course it could be a menace if the combat stats are too high, but we don’t know those yet.
It looks like a nice ship and would fit me well, so I’ll probably train it as I’m currently using a Proteus for that role. I’m interested to see how much of an impact the ‘longer range hacking’ will be, and what the ‘expedition command bursts’ will bring to the game.
I hope they move gas huffing to these new expedition command bursts.
Would have been cool if they brought mining pockets back to security missions. I kind of miss the fact that you could run missions and sometimes get a good pocket to bookmark to mine later.
