First off
CCP doesnt need to do anything to any of the SoCT ship They are perfectly fine both the way they are being distributed and the ships themself… (i still have hundreds and hundreds of random T1 BPC`s left from when thy did give them out So lets not go there again)
Secondly @CCP_Kestrel You say your bringing back the old Omber and Kernite anomalies to HS
We had Kernite in every system from 0.7 and down
So yes i agree that you should bring Kernite back home to HS where it belongs But bring it back for real in every system from 0.7 and down and not in a Super limited capacity inside an anomalie that spawns now and then!
Please CCP, don’t do it that way. Design it in a way, that the miner has to actually do something to push for a high critical hit chance. Like manually piloting a turret ship to increase your hit quality chance. Something that involves quick decision making, knowledge and some skill.
Else it is just a simple randomized buff without any real meaning.
This is your chance to actually implement a mining technique that would allow skilled and active solo miners to catch up to semi-afk mass-multiboxers. It is your chance to make your game objectively better and more attractive. Don’t waste it!
Let mining crits be something to reward active gameplay, not a passive buff.
Multiboxers are going to spend their attention multiboxing anyway, but ‘mining crits’ have the potential to bring the yield of an attentive single account miner closer to the yield of a multiboxer.
It only needs to reward a miner for paying attention to do so. Just don’t make it a passive bonus please.
I think the better implementation would be for the Critical Hit to have a chance to hit a bonus ore cache or cause damage to the mining laser, with the skill increasing the chance of a bonus. I also think the miner should be given a warning before the critical cache is hit, like the asteroid turning red and/or an alarm sounding.
I’d love ‘critical hits’ to impact how miners mine and give miners who pay attention a bonus that miners who don’t pay attention or are too busy multiboxing may miss. An optional boost to single account mining yield.
Let’s expand it some then. You are suggesting a mechanism that would allow a active miner to avoid the damage situation. I can support that idea. But it may require a new component that needs to be activated to avoid the damage, or an additional control on the laser to do the same.
The critical mining hits don’t deal damage to the miner, it means bonus ore and ice.
What I’d like to see is that miners need to pay attention in order to use the crit and obtain the bonus ore and ice.
For example: every once in a while you get a random glimmering asteroid and if you finish your strip miner cycle at that time you get 50% bonus yield that cycle.
Attentive players could get better yield from such crits, but someone who is AFK and grabbing a coffee while they mine or someone who is managing 12 miners won’t be able to get this bonus.
It’s great timing, was having a conversation with alliance mates two nights ago about carriers and how to make them more viable. Consensus is since they lost their logi utility a while back, but gained some boosting, booshing, and conduits theyre on an OK path, but theyre too expensive for what they bring to the table. Generally we landed that they should be priced a bit above marauders, get unassignable drones, and one support fighter bay to make them fully viable as more than just a subcap conduit for null.
For solo, it reads to me like a Strat for Unsecured/Forgottens, but with the ability to clear low class gas rats and solo-huff, and a ZPME for less chance of losing your chain.
In a mining gang, it’s a huffer that can clear the rats and boost the other huffers.
What do you think of adding something like a Fighter Module for Carriers, similar to a Triage Module, Siege Module, and Capital Industrial Core, that enhances Fighters? Not sure what enhancements the module could provide, but seems like the Carrier is missing a module category other capitals have.
I like this idea a lot, having dabbled in mining myself I wish it could be more active rather than just sitting around and waiting for the cycle to finish.
