Misleading tooltip (weapons timer) on Mining command module

Issue
Tooltip info related.
Mining command modules features a 1 min weapons timer (red circle) which has the tooltip “cause: aggression against another player…” while there was no aggression and no other players around.

Severity / Effort
Non-critical issue.
I would consider this a small issue. It is not game breaking, as this is just misleading info that can cause confusion and uneeded questions. I can therefore assume that there is also minor efforts needed to fix this, using a suggestion such as below.

Suggestion
While such a timer on a mining command module may be good for balance and probably is working as intended, this using the same tooltip text only gives misleading info and therefore that’s the only thing that seems wrong here. I suggest changing the timer here to an identical timer (game-mechanics wise the same thing) but with its own info text.

Example
New weapons timer tooltip for mining command, removing “cause: aggression against another player” and replacing with “cause: a mining command module was activated“ or anything that is true to what caused this timer.

That would be a minor fix i think. Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thank you!

nothing needs to be changed…its a universal crime watch thing that simply means you can not dock or jump gate while its active…learn to eve b4 posting thanx

All command modules gives a weapons timer.

I think the “rule” in the code is something like “if command module, activate weapons timer”

Doesnt matter which one it is

The Command Burst module is an exception to this; it starts the weapon timer upon activation and will disappear at the end of the cycle and long before the burst effect dissipates.

While this timer is active you cannot jump, dock, use warp gates, or eject from, store, refit, or switch ships. You also cannot be tethered by Upwell Structures such as Citadels or Engineering Complexes as long as you have a weapon timer.

Considering the above, your suggestion is moot

Your post is kinda missing the point. Since the issue here is not that the command module gives a weapons timer. If you read the OP you will see the issue is an erronous text in tooltip.

| **
Weapons Timer**
Cause: Using offensive modules against another capsuleer or activating a bastion or command burst module.

Consequence: Unable to jump, dock or eject from, store, refit or switch ships and prevents tethering (60 seconds).

the primary function is aggression against another capsuleer..
rather instead of making a different timer, they lumped them together as aggression against and a capsuleer and running a command burst do the same effect.

I agree.

However I also think that it’s much more consistent if all effects that give the weapons timer give the exact same weapons timer.

If the alternative is to give every ‘special’ case it’s own timer and own description, I prefer the current generalized situation.

EVE is complex enough without also having to keep in mind all the different extra timers we’d get. I mean, we’ve got plenty of different timers already between weapons timers, NPC and player engagement timers, blue and red jump timers, suspect timers, criminal timers…

Adding yet another flavour of the exact same weapons timer only so that mining command links can get their own timer (which is essentially the same as the regular weapons timer but with a different name and description) is not an improvement to the game, I think.

Mining command bursts are simple:

  • all command bursts give weapons timer on activation
  • mining command bursts are command bursts

In other words, mining command bursts give a weapons timer upon activation.
