Maybe I used wrong word but if you didn’t understand what I mean then you are clueless.
I am selftaught programmer working on game modifications and PHP/MySQL, not a programmer with academic title working in gaming industry. I might not know the proper programming terms, but your mockery on my wrong term usage is silly and does not prove me wrong.
I am a developer. What you wrote was stupid. I just told you that it was stupid. And that I did not want to lose time with someone who express stupid things. If you don’t make the effort for people to understand you, don’t expect people to make the efforts to not assume you are a complete retard.
No, you prove yourself wrong by not using the correct terms.
Dev is much more than just “self taught”. I encourage you to take cursus in informatics, you are a LOOOOOG way to be a dev.
“I put tomato sauce in my pasta. I am a painter artist”
Usually used to communicate between program and external library or between programs all together.
As for old code issues - well I can think of a number of theoretical scenarios where “old code” can be of many issues for introducing new missions even if the backend logic of missions is gated behind whatever amounts of interfaces.
Are they issue? the hell if I actually know. To make definite statement like that I’d need to see the code itself. But I can imagine possible scenarios where it’s a case.
I can also imagine other situation - where it’s not exactly greatly hampering but troublesome enough to prove unworthy devtime investment for it’s return. I mean you can have a single dev working couple days to introduce a new mission, which is hardly something to raise hype on, or you can have that dev working on next new shiny thing, accelerating how fast that new shiny thing that will generate hype and revenue lands on production. Can be case too.
What IS the case - is something only CCP staff knows for sure.
A long time ago (maybe 8 years?), when development of the game was a lot more active, one of the devs talked about how they wanted to add some features to some of the missions. They had the tools to develop the missions, but only one guy in CCP knew how to use them. The dev described how excited they all were that they had found that guy so that they could improve the missions - he had been moved to a different department so nobody was aware that anybody was left who could still do that.
I am confident that CCP doesn’t have anyone on-staff to develop missions these days. Even if they did, there probably isn’t any documentation for how to do it. The idea of re-writing the code for missions is insane (no offense intended). Even using the tools that CCP built into their system is beyond their capabilities now.
Their development of invasions has seemed fairly active. As are abyssal deadspace.
Beyond programming IMO the missions system in general is just a difficult issue to fix. It is a common problem of most MMO’s and their quest content.
In their current form missions will always end up static. For each mission a “story” has to be created. Even though most people probably never read them, that is how missions work. Then it has to be fleshed out to fit the story, tested and then released. That is a lot of effort fo arguably a small reward.
Building a “dynamic” mission system also has it’s difficulties. Crafting missions still with a story, but can be changed up and modified on the fly is even more complex, needing more effort.
On the flip side making abyssal deadspace is far more simple. There isn’t a narrative created with every filament. They are all pretty much similar. They can adjust weather effects or NPC makeup on the fly pretty easily. Overall that is content that was likely far easier to write.
So IMO I doublt we will see missions change. It seems pretty clear CCP is focused on just adding new forms of PVE. The effort/result ratio is just better.
The reward for missioning has been reduced too much.
Salvage use to be worth more, but a lot it is of minimal value now.
LP use to be worth more, but things like faction warfare has reduced the value.
The value of dropped modules use to be better, but the refining changes reduced the value of them.
There are so many people looking for a ganking target that you shouldn’t fly semi-blinged ships.
Missions have the worst drone agro rules compared to other PvE activities.
Meanwhile:
There’s more money in mining moon goo.
Renting systems has become common, which is much better income. You can also fly bigger and blingy-er ships safely.
Incursions are much better money.
Invasions are plentiful.
Missions have either remained the same or devalued for every PvE change, and the only point of them now is if you want to increase your standing with a faction.
LP and salvage don’t have an intrinsic value. their values decreases as the production exceeds the demand.
So, would you say that faction warfare reduced that value of LP because there are now more ways to get it? Because that’s what I said. I would even say that faction warfare replaced mission running as the main faucet for LP.
Salvage is different, because MTU’s make collecting it trivial compared to when mission running was more popular.
Also no relation to drone aggro. seriously, learn to play the game and get out of your drone fit and you’ll stop sucking.
You should stop incorrecting people. The drone agro rules in missions suck. Full stop. Even if all you want to do is kill some frigates with light drones while you use your guns/missiles on the big targets they will often pull full pocket agro. It’s nothing but an annoyance.
Meanwhile, I’ve gone days in null anons without my drones pulling agro. Why run missions when it’s easy to get into a renter corp where I can semi-afk a drone boat for 20m ticks. If I want a more active experience I can upgrade into a carrier or run multiple accounts.
So yeah, to go back to my original post there are now easier ways to get better rewards from other activities that are functionally still shooting red crosses.
And now that you know your fit is bad for the situation, why do you keep playing drone fit ?
There are other fits that can do as good. Learn to use them, and you won’t complain about drone aggro.
You can’t play an activity with a bad fit and use it as a proof this activity is bad.
Not directly. IIRC there are three LP stores per empire : FW one, combat one, and non-combat one. Most FW and combat offers are the same, however non-combat has several specific offer.
Many LP stores are very good. last week I had like 2k isk/lp direct order(they are still present). thukker is still 2k9 direct order. If you take system into account, it’s 3.16 k indexed isk/lp. in NS it’s 5.9 k indexed isk/LP. in LS it’s 4.3
The thing is that people want their activity to remain good all the time. That’s bad, if you adapt and know when to change activity, you can remain on the “worth” activities all the time.
Good for you. I agree that there are less costly activities for a good value (conduit with vindicator ?)
I would agree with that. Yesterday was possibly the first time in almost a month I activated a high slot module (other than a cloak)
I get most of my enjoyment from station trading and production. PVE combat bores the **** out of me. One of these days ill pull the plug and get into PVP… but ive been telling myself that for what feels like years.
I run missions for the faction not the cash so it’s a minor part of my Eve experience. It would be nice if they reworked them and added more risk, reward and randomness.
