So EVE online and the forums are both PEGI-12 or PG-13 rated. While CCP cant control online interactions between players they can try to moderate as best they can.

Now, the forums on the other hand, anyone can read without signing up. That means a teen can read the forums before making an account and trying EVE. Deleted comments or locked threads are done for a reason. And the ISDS highlight why threads are closed. I think they should take it a step further and unlist the bad ones, but leaving them locked only can help too.

I think you are sending a bad signal to teens if you deny them the ability to see what an offending comment said. For example they wont learn what was offensive but also you are saying they cant handle it.

2. Specifically restricted content

EVE Online holds ESRB Teen and PEGI 12 ratings. All content posted to the EVE Online forums must be teen rated.

In addition to this, the EVE Online forums are not for discussion of real life current affairs, news, politics or religion. Discussion should revolve around EVE Online and its community.

For these reasons, specific content is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. These are:

  • Pornography
  • Profanity
  • Real Money Trading (RMT)
  • Discussion of Warnings & Bans
  • Discussion of Moderation
  • Private communications with CCP
  • In-Game Bugs & Exploits
  • Real World Religion
  • Real World Politics
  • Content that distorts the forum layout
